I just found out that mid December EHX (without saying anything to anybody) released a new firmware (0.57) for the 1440 Stereo Looper!
I installed it on my unit, but it took me some time and a bit of googling to understand what the update is about.
No official information are to find on the product page yet, but I was able to find this site with all the firmware release notes done: https://www.ehx.com/assets/1440/firmware/_.json
New on Firmware 0.57:
- Improved MIDI Clock stability over a wide range of external MIDI Clock sources
- MIDI Continue messages are now treated the same as MIDI Start messages
- The 1440 now saves each loop bank’s fade setting through loop erases and power cycles
- Added 1440 support for MIDI Program Change (PC) and Control Change (CC) messages
- MIDI receive channel support added
But shame on EHX: this update went totally unnoticed (at least to me until now)... the manual still looks the same and a midi mapping chart is not yet available...
At least I'm happy that now 1440 remembers the Fade out setting.
LOL that's how big companies work..
I hope in the future they add a way to record over a recorded loop without having the overdubs being automatically saved, right now it's my only complain with it.

I had a chat a while ago with Paolo Spaccamonti about this issue: on older Boss Loopers you can do that (which on a way is super cool, so that you can prepare some basic loops to jam and develop with live)! He also got the 1440 and would have loved to have that feature like on his older Boss RC.
As usual.... big companies are doing what they want and don't listen to customer needs!

Here my demo and review of the new Mdi Mapping feature on the EHX 1440! Enjoy.
I was in touch with EHX support, because, while trying out all the PCs, I've found a tiny Midi mapping bug (the PC message 31 RV.OC for Reverse+Octave: it’ll engage Reverse and Octave as expected, but it also changes the function of the Stop FX switch to be Reverse+Octave, no matter how it was set before).
Since I was already on the ball I asked them, if they could implement dedicated midi commands for REC, DUB and PLAY (which would allow us to create few more MIDI tricks, like instant replace, for example), instead of having these controlled only all together by the Loop FootSwitch (and the related midi PC).
They are looking forward to fix the bug and are considering my suggestions as well, so that by February or March a new firmware shall be available!
We were overwhelmed by demand and you hugged the website to death !!! In 10 minutes all units were gone. We take no pleasure in frustrating many of you. For the next batch pre-orders will be available.
For those who want to go deeper into Loupé’s features, you can download the manual by clicking the button beside.
Since 1 week I own a white Loupé: this machine is amazing! Very deep and complex, I'm still in the learning process.
I highly reccomand to check out Andre Lafosse's youtube channel: he did a wonderful series of in depth tutorial about Loupé.

Same. EDP is so deep and Andre is such a great teacher to make it easy to understand the concepts and configuration. It isn't exactly rocket surgery but I was overwhelmed at first. Now the EDP has become a vital part of my guitar/band setup.

I mainly use the LP2, bit very often Andre's EDP videos gave me some idea how to do some tricks. Very inspiring material!

Ok you looping geniuses...gimmie a recommendation if you can.
I've currently got an EHX 720, and I have a really hard time getting my timing down with it. I had much better luck and sound with the ditto.
What I *think* i want is something fairly simple--like 2 separate loops, mainly for verse / chorus song stuff, with a separate start /stop button if i want to drop into a bridge or a rest and then restart the loop(s) when i hit start again...
It looks like the ditto x4 would be right for that--thoughts? is the quality still sketchy on those? what else fits the bill? looking for something less than 300 usd.
thanks!

ditto x4 does what you seek and if you dug the ditto, the ditto x4 is a really solid unit if you can handle the footprint. I used to have one and I really enjoyed it when I had it.
