Yea that's awful he's going. I have a friend who is just not getting out through medical discharge. He has something wrong with his back due to the work he was doing and he's been complaining about it for the last 3 years or longer and yet the doctors can't or won't do much for him. so he said the first thing he is going to do is get his back fixed by a real doctor.

also I thought your drumming was good. enjoyed the jam.

Any doombros with tips for getting a storage locker? My buddy can't play out of his apt, and I'm moving into town soon, so we're going to need a good place to play. Average price, size, etc?

Get one that is climate controlled. a decent sized one that is like 15x20 will run you about 100+ all depends on your area, how much competition in the area is.

Mine is 15x20 and I pay 125. but at least I have 24hour access as well. That's something else to consider some close down at a certain point.

i'm not sure if we have these in Australia - are they literally a storage shed and the owner lets you jam in them?

Yea there are tons of them around all over the US. you pay to rent the area and then set up shop and jam.

Also have to make sure there is some power supply in the units, that's usually the most tricky part to secure.

See, I've never heard of people in australia doing this!
I've used these types of sheds / lockups many times for times when I've been between houses & on couches - but not for jamming.
Have always thought about renting one as a workshop… I think it's time to look into it.
Obviously they should be powered - but what about noise etc?
Do you have to disclose to the owner that you're a band / musician and that's what you plan on doing?

Oh man. I wish we could do that here. They absolutely will not let bands do that in ATL. Our space is 15x18 and it's $450 a month. And that's pretty standard here.

Yea I figured it would be different all over. I only know what was in my immediate area. Over in nola where I used to also jam there is a converted hotel that a ton of the bigger nola bands practice. it's something up around those figures for a room, all the bathrooms had been converted to just be closets basically.

wildebelor, yea you kinda have to tell them and not all the time do the unit have power. the more high dollar ones do but there are plenty that are like what I pictured. just basic shells with doors. the lights aren't even in the units.

Move an hour north to Rome and you can get practice spaces on the super cheap. There's a guy that runs a storage facility here that is totally cool with bands practicing in his units, and there's 24 hour access, and did I mention cheap?

The only downside, obviously, would be living in Rome.

jamming in storage lockers here is a no go, but we have some pretty nice facilities you can use. my favorite are the studios that are yours, private, paid monthly. leave your shit there except for the guitars.

iirc the last one I rented was 15x15 and 240 a month. and it was the unit under the main ac so the room never got warm and in phoenix that's fucking important.

Hahaha thats how I feel every time I leave the house.

Have you ever been here before? It was recently rated #5 on the 10 cheapest places to live in the US. Its so cheap because there are no other redeeming qualities. Just McDonalds and meth.

I have to get the fuck out of here.
