If you have a bunch of disposable income, do it. Otherwise,

Peter, that's terrible advice. How would we all get the rigs we have if we worried about affordability?

On second thought, I'm drining tequila at mexi happy hour. Ignore what I say except the part about folded horns

So your 2.9ohm actual reading on the cab, means its actually a 4ohm "rated" cab. They switched all the "ratings" in the 70's I believe.

my 612 is from 1971 i think and labeled 3ohm
and thats kinda what i heard elsewhere
now that i think about it
actually i think you may have told me that
when i first got it

another question for you skip
do you run double 612s in your main rig?
im moving toward replacing the commander 410 combo
with a head and cabs
ultimately wanna get another r300 head
i do like how the 4x10/2x12 sound on the guitar side
but i cant see myself searching out a 410 cab

so i have the emperor 212
also have the earth 2x15(not currently in my setup)
tryin to figure out what size 4 speaker cab to get
saw an old peavey 315 on ebay
or do i just buy another or build a 612
fuckin choices
itd be alot easier if i didnt love the emperor w/ sheffields so much
fuckin curb that and buy a 412 to go with the earth 15s

I was just playing my new concert lead full bore, and emanating from near the power switch, there was somewhat of a "this amp is about to explode smell" should I be concerned? I've been playing it a lot since sunday, always dimed and just now was the first I've noticed it

Do it, why would you not do it? Jazzmaster it up, jazzmaster all over the place.

I agree with amorphous too, could always do a parts build one if nothing has the exact look/specs you want.

Yea that's not good, stop playing go have it checked out. You might roast something. I talked with my guy about my concert lead which is the same as yours silver face and he said the caps you can basically pick them up off the board. he was like I've never seen this.. are you sure it made sound? I was like yea I planned on recording with it but decided I'd rather have it not electrocute the fuck out of me while playing and I happen to touch something.

Doom room... spend all your money all the time always. Never want and pass... just want and aquire.

Awww damn I guess a 3 hour jam tonight with that amp won't be happening :( oh well still got my trusty fryette lol. And that is nuts about the caps, never heard of anything like that before. Will take it to a tech soon. Might as well get the plug replaced too while I'm at it

Yea it's well worth updating to make sure you have it save to play for years and years to come. Any time I smell that sorta plastic burning smell... immediate horrorshow as everything is turned off.

Yeah it is sounding so fucking kick ass, definitely want to make sure it lasts me a while. I never thought I'd be this ecstatic over an SS amp. Even with just a TS style boost it has such a ridiculously awesome sound. Hell by itself too, and I haven't even unlocked the distortion knob yet

I know!! there is a ton of good in solid states! That's what most of my amps are aside from two thus far. A Sunn Enforcer and a Sovtek Mig100H. I plan on expanding my tube amps as well.

Nice! I have my eyes set on either a Beta Lead or Traynor next. Which ever I come across first with cash in hand
