This is a first loop jam I've recorded with the LP2.
That beat at the beginning is a guitar loop mangled few times with the Scramble function, which is an effect that chops the loops in chunks, which are then randomly reordered.
Looking forward to drone with it live tonight!

Currently listening to it, I like that the beat has been randomly rearranged but it's now recursive, so not random at all in its repetitions. :thumb:

Yes, Scramble just reorders once the chunks and then they stay at their place.
Cool thing: f you're not happy, you can un-scramble the loop, and re-scramble it! As each time you scramble the chunk are ordered differently.
You have 3 kind of chunk chopping lentgh: slow, fast, and medium. I normally go for the medium, but on the beat I combined medium first, and then reordered everything with a fast.

From the manual:
Scramble
A unique feature of the LP1 is the ability to randomly scramble a track. The scrambling divides a loop into smaller chunks. These chunks are then randomly reordered during playback. Three different varieties of the scramble function are available: slow, medium, and fast
Pressing scramble on a scrambled track will restore it to normal. Each time a track is scrambled, it is scrambled in a different order. If a track is left scrambled, the pattern will repeat each time through the loop.
Btw I'm planning to prepare a demo video/tutorial soon.

And here it is: my demo/mini tutorial for the LP2!

NOTE: I tried to cover a bit everything of what this device can do (basics overview & looping, 2 tracks looping, configuration & setup modes, advanced midi mapping, etc...), BUT the Song Mode, and Verse/Chorus/Verse looping styles, as this is not the kind of looping I usually perform.
But yes: You can do this kind of looping with LP2! Only, since I still have to learn and understand the "Switch Other Track" command & Song Mode, I decided to skip this point, which maybe I'll cover in a future video.

So I spend I bit more time with LP2, find out a new firmware is available, so this is the final part 2 to my first LP2 Mini Tutorial!

In this video I'll cover all the stuff I didn't in the first one: Verse/Chorus/Verse looping, Song Select Mode and an in depth demo of LP2's special effects available via MIDI, like Stretch/Shrink, Quantized Replace, Scramble, and the classic Reverse and Half Speed

Here a pair new videos about the LP2.
First the different Retrigger options you have on board and then MIDI Clock sync IN and OUT (yes... based on the loop length LP2 generates a midi clock and acts as a clock master!).

No one on this board has ever shown any interest in Circular Labs Mobius but I feel I would be remiss if I did not pass on that the creator of this amazing looping software is making the code open source so there is hope that it will not be abandonware. Carry on.

France to me is also a place of mad people coming out with super cool ideas! Do you know Lopelloop and NOundo?
These programs were developed by some friends of mine, and are pushing live-looping to some very crazy stuff, other hardware and software can only dream of.
I did try once Logelloop, but I being an hardware guy, I never had the patience to really sit down with it and use it properly.

I was interested in both at one time, was in contact with the Logelloop creator for a couple weeks 3 or 4 years ago but both limit the amount of inputs and output to less than Mobius. I can do 32 tracks in Mobius with inputs and outputs limited only to what my soundcards offer. Suits my creative/signal/work flow a lot better.

I don't understand this concept of limiting your software. It's self-defeating. People should be able to expand however they need to, limited only to what their hardware will do.

I will admit, it's been some time since I have looked at either though so maybe the creators realized this flaw?

Here a new video about the LP2, this time an overview about advanced/complex midi commands, and few hint how I do use midi to control the LP2

:!!!: Note to the self: looping a drum beat and then use Quantized Replace to replace bits of it with another other beat can lead to amazing incidents. :!!!:

For all the glitch lover, watch this video at your own risk! :!!!:
I got a Morning Star MC3 midi controller, and started to fiddle around with its "cc waveform generator" (or midi lfo as i call them). And you can create some mad stuff! :animal:

After praising the amazingness of the midi mapping and its potential over the LP2, I decided to go one step back, and show you how easy it is to operate the unit STAND ALONE, just with an expression pedal to control Feedback and its internal effects.

I did 2 more vids about the LP2, this time I talk in detail about the workflow to create and manage sync'd loops. Since I still have the Pigtronix Infinity (if somebody is interested I'm selling it, you can PM me), I did also a video where I compare both workflows.

In short:
LP2: first record and close loop1, then you go over to loop2: now press PLAY instead of REC. This action wil INSTANTLY create an empty loop with the same length as loop1! When you are ready to record you can press REC and start the fun.
NOTE: to perform this action Loop2 has to be Erased/Void (BLUE status LED). Of course on loop2 if you press first REC instead of PLAY you can record anytime an asynchronous loop!
MIDI trick: programm a switch to send first a play message followed by a rec message. This way you can instantly record a sync'd loop2!

Infinity (and I think Boomerang3 also works in a similar way): first rec and close loop1, then go over loop2 by pressing REC/Play. This action will arm loop2. Now the Looper needs to wait until loop1 closes 1 cycle, to understand how long loop2 has to be! Then loop2 will start immediately to record.
NOTE: on Infinty you need to have the Multi Sync turned ON to achieve sync'd loops (and you can turn Multi Sync on/off only when both loops are in STOP...).

Am I finally going to buy a Morphagene, so I can pair it with the Cosmos?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJgAcDS2q_E

....I feel like with a Cosmos and a complimentary looper, you could do some really amazing stuff. The question is: what is the ideal looper/splicer/sampler for pairing with it? I'd like to keep it as simple and user-friendly as possible. Maybe one of the Line 6 HX pedals, or perhaps a Poly Beebo?
