Anybody know how the guy in The Body gets so much lowend? I know he plays through a bass amp and a guitar amp but when I've seen them live I didn't notice any crossovers or octave effects...it just seems so much heavier than a normal guitar into a bass amp levels of low.

Read in an interview somewhere that his bass cabs are loaded with car speakers because he kept blowing normal speakers. Not sure if that was bs or not, but it could have some impact if it is truth. When I saw them, I didn't see anything special either. Just some dirt on the floor (Distortion + I believe) and that wall of speakers and amps.

The Body has always been a band I have always wanted to enjoy more than I actually do.

The Body is a band that I have a hard time sitting down and listening to their music because I'm rarely in a mood where I want to feel that bad. They are pretty much the epitome of doom in that they only inspire that feeling. I like and appreciate the music, but I rarely want to listen... But I very badly want to see them live. Just to experience it.

It's funny, the body to me is great working music. Fuck if I can ever tell what the lyrics are, but its so crushing and a wall of noise that it becomes something that helps my motivation to get stuff done.

But I think the fact that they convey that sense of utter, bleak misery and dread and can make you feel so fucking uneasy while listening is what makes them so great. One hundred percent my favorite current band.

Plus, you know, Crass and Body Count covers.

Anybody got a Gibson SG standard (in black preferably) they wanna get rid of? I gots the GAS again... this time with funds to back it up....

I agree - few bands do it better. But damn if that isn't hard to listen to for me most of the time.

I've got one- it's the 50th anniversary model, with 57s , small pickguard, and 24 frets? I get why they did that but don't understand why they did it on an anniversary model. I love it, but have lately been thinking about moving it, even though it's the only SG I've ever owned that I felt was well balanced from a body/neck perspective. If your interested at all, I can try and put some pics together later

If you could that would be awesome! I dunno if I'll have that much liquid cash depends on how much you want, but maybe we can work a deal with partial trades or something if not.

Yeah they're good. I don't listen to them regularly, but they pull off doom in a pretty unmistakable fashion -- something that's very impressive nowadays.

I echo all of this. Seeing them live for the first time completely blew my mind. I had gone to the show on a whim, and it was the best decision of my life. Saw them when they came back through with Braveyoung and my mind blew even more. Literally, easily, one of my top 5 bands of all time, ever.
