Sitting through hours of training everyday is wearing me down. I can't pay attention. I'm becoming more and more fed up with the lack of movement in making music, all the shit I want to do, not buying the equipment I need, not having the people I want to play off of. I feel like I just need to say "fuck it" and buy a bunch of stuff to write and record these songs myself and not have any expectations. I need to stop being so fucking lazy about it all and start doing it. At least I hope that would give me more sense of purpose because I don't feel it inside this office, even if I am doing "noble" work again. It sucks but maybe I need this impatience and frustration to get moving.

Yup. I'm lucky to have a stable, professional job that keeps me from running down my savings any further, but its still feels soul sucky.

I need a break, work is driving me insane. Boss gets stressed, then stresses me then the usual fucked up cycle repeats and repeats.

This won't speak to non-programmers (working on large enough projects) but today's basically compilation hell. Our project updated the game engine to its latest version and I had to rebuild everything, which is usually a bit annoying as it takes more than 30mn even with distributed compilation using Incredibuild, but today for some reason one last library takes ages to compile. It's not even linking (I'm used to linking taking more time). After more than one hour I cancelled the build, and then had to rebuild everything as somehow Visual Studio thought everything was finished when it was obviously not... I've spent 3 or 4 hours compiling so far today. Urrr. I suspect that something's fucky somewhere but at this point I'm willing to let the thing run a bit more in the hope that it finally ends and I can get some fucking work done

.

I sold the pedal I thought would never move from my inventory and shipped it out for less than expected, only to get home and find the power supply sitting on the table. Now, I have to box it up and ship it, thus guaranteeing a loss on this one. I mean, it was a risk and the loss is small, but still it is frustrating to lose money because of such an easy oversight.

On the other hand, free paid day!
Visual Studio can be trashy about that sometimes.

Did you guys upgrade VS recently? I remember they've change how linking to static libraries works when they redid dependencies and that caused a bunch of nonsense. Or maybe I'm outdated in my knowledge of VS, that might have been ages ago...

I actually hate not being able to work. Bores me to death

We're using VS2015 now (it was 2013 until now), but I'm using it at home too and never had this issue.
As I said, I suspect that something's gone wrong somewhere. It's still compiling now...

I did it ! I had to cancel the "build without and end", force-get the binaries from source control for the engine and the project and then build (not rebuild that time) the project. I'm almost surprised it worked as that's exactly what I had when I first updated everything and started compiling today.

6:37am. Going to bed. As always, Norway's lightless winters fuck up my sense of time completely. Don't think I've seen the sun in a few weeks.

When you definitely change the font size of the text for the email you're writing because the recipient is legally blind but for some reason it resets to default when you hit send.

Yesterday, after months of being stuck with this problem, I finally replaced the multi function turn signal switch in my Ford Fucked Us. The brights wouldn't turn off. Now, I can turn the brights off, but the low beams don't come on at all (for all I know, they didn't before... hard to tell through the brights).
I think I probably fried the relay early on, thinking that was the culprit, having cracked the shell trying in vain to pry the fucking fucker out, which is "so simple" according to assholes on the internet... FUCK YOU, it's not "simple" if you need the fucking jaws of life to pull a factory-installed relay. To anyone who says otherwise, my two exposed relays and gouged-up fuse box interior and scabby knuckles would like to have a word with your teeeeeeeeeeeeettttthhhh.
I'm really going to be pissed off if this ends up being an expensive fix just because I can't manage to get the fucking relays out myself to even test them, let alone replace the faulty one, which is only an $8-$9 part, but would probably cost a boatload more to simply have pulled/replaced by a mechanic. Add to that, my usual mechanic's business closed. I think they bought their own business and are renovating the old location for it, but they are going to be closed a long time if they're ever even re-opening, so now I have to find a new mechanic I can trust on top of it all.
