I honestly don't care much for Cave In outside of Beyond Hypothermia and Until Your Heart Stops. Both I remember getting when they came out based on reviews I read in mags and was just floored at how good they were. I checked out other bands just based on them supposed to be sounding like Cave In. none of them did they all weren't nearly as good.
FUCK.
Until Your Heart Stops is such a fucking awesome record. Some metal core is so good. As soon as you typed Until Your Heart Stopped I was stoked to go listen to that record. It's about to be jammed hard. Also made me think of Swarm of the Lotus. METALCORE WEEKEND.
This was pages ago and it was a busy saturday for the Doom Room but as far as some stonery doom recommendations I've been listening to a lot of Pilgrim. I think their new record is enjoyable. Just saw them play this week. Very good stuff. Put on a great live set. Guitars straight to amps with some very cool fuzzed out tones.
Also listening to a lot of Witchbanger.
http://witchbanger.bandcamp.comMight be that Will knows those hombres as part of the Chi-town doom//metal scene. Dunno.
Seeing them in a couple weeks at Dark Lord Day so that's pretty exciting.

That's a pretty solid list right there.
I'm gonna add Bloody Panda.

In a good way, or a bad way? They're awesome, and get no love around here.

I guess it's neither good or bad. I bought it from their web page when I decided that I needed new music and spent around $300 on bandcamp. It's a situation where I have yet to get to it properly. I probably listened to it once or twice and thought it was too heavy for me and would give it more time in the future. That time hasn't arrived yet.

Maybe I should have been more specific that I'm looking for female vocalists who sound perceptibly female. MoT and Rwake don't really hit that spot for me, worthy as they are otherwise. That Bloody Panda would be awesome if it didn't break into blastbeat passages for no perceptible reason.

I tried listening to them a while back and didn't really get into them, though I forget why. I'll give it another shot. Recommended starting point?

Busse Woods and III are both excellent. She's a dope ass guitarist, too. Granted, they ARE in that old standby groovy stoner doom/rock niche but they're awesome at it.
