I think PTP sucks for repairing and modifying stuff. Hard to put it back together compared to a turret build

Thumbs up.
and I approve of dumping at work. You might as well get paid for doing it.

As much as this idea is kinda anti-Dunwich-mentality if you ever wanted to turn it into a serious business this would probably be your bread and butter. If Orange can sell their rip offs for $2500 and you could build better ones and sell them for $1500 you could put a major hurt on them. I would also be the first in-line to become an employee
AngryGoldfish wrote:Matamp taught me this years when I visited the factory. The lead designer was showing me the workshop and stuff, and I asked about the wiring. He demonstrated some of it, and I said is that PTP. He quite firmly replied no and explained how frustrating it is to see 'bootweek' builders claming PTP when it's either turret board, eyelet board or something else. He showed me an example of a 'true' point-to-point' amp and then explained the differences.
There are only a few major builders using strict PTP wiring. One of the reasons why Matchless and Carr are so expensive is because they employ that technique a lot. I think Carr also operate using other techniques, but Matchless almost entirely use it. I think Bad Cat used to build with PTP wiring as well, I can't remember. I don't think they do any more, if they did. Either way, I don't think it makes much of a difference
Verellen does PtP on full custom builds as well, the 45w Class A amp I sold to skully is PtP (if I remember the pis correctly) and his Spaldo might be as well. If its a low parts count build (like those two amps that only have Vol / tone controls) I can see PtP being worth it, but IMO it makes the guts look like a rats nest pretty much no matter what you do. Nick's turret builds look a thousand times cleaner and easier to work on than ANY PtP build I've seen.

Spaldo does not qualify as PTP its a type of eyelet board.

Yeah it definitely doesn't, I hadn't seen the gut shot so I wasn't sure.
