Are DOS and I the only ones that know this? Seriously. Turn all the knobs to 10, down the bottle, play any notes in the blues scale.

(PS This is not a knock against Dixie. Ethan (Primitive Man) and I were talking the other night, and we both agreed that Weedeater is probably the perfect "weed/stoner" metal band out there. They ALWAYS play the right notes.)

Also, since I hit the forum yesterday, there are 193 new pages of stuff. So, no.

BOSSK: Just play notes through an amp and stop worrying about it. Get rid of your Burger amp. Don't buy a Model T. Anything in the middle will let you sound good and also figure out a way to sound like yourself.

Or buy two Model Ts, fuck it man. Burn down a church while playing your favorite non-Sabbath/Sleep riffs, piss on the fire, and have a good ass time doin' it. That's all there is to life, IMO, if you have been born with unfortunate genetic sequence that prevents Sabbath and Sleep from making life righteous.

Oh, and for some reason ten years ago the Melvins were not something I ever wanted. Turns out three decades was just the right amount of time for my brain and ears to get to the right spot for the Melvins. Now I can't stop listening to them.

So the wedges look like this-

Some might say not to clean em, but thats not mojo on them, it's mildew.
Low power rating so I will be looking up the speakers and making sure that's right, most likely will replace with some eminence.

The ones with "made in holland' on them have crazy strong magnets.

The plan is to get em sounding good and use them as mini guitar cabs for venues where our full rig will not fit. Yes, that has been a problem. :doom:

Maybe this came up 300 pages (aka 30 minutes) ago, but get him on the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble and/or the Mt. Fuji Doomjazz Corporation. Actually, everyone here should do that. Fucking awesome stuff.

Think I'm good on recomendations guys. I have a week or two's worth of listening to do. In the mean time I sent him some earth to listen to.

Bossk wrote:Love that shit. I suggested Bohren & Der Club of Gore.

See what I did there?

Looks like the nicer looking of the speakers I got are phillips ad1265/m15, and rated for about 30w so yeah... will be selling those.

holy shit. so many pages. shit.

bohren & der club of gore is fucking awesome. saw them a few years ago and holy shit it was amazing. perfect band for the situation.

bossk, i'd love to talk amps sometime, but way too much shit happened on the page to really get into it. i think we have similar taste in music, in that most of the bands you like, i also like. i'm way more into black metal and funeral doom and such. i'm not into a lot of the bands that are popular on this forum. you're going to have to come around to sabbath one day though. all the bands you like are into them. i don't listen all that much, but they're part of my foundation. it's that way with most old metal dudes. i'm not actually that old, but i'm sometimes the oldest dude at the show, if you know what i mean. you said somewhere i thought that the discussion was moved to it's own thread, but i didn't see it. tell me where to join it.

anyway, the first question is amp gain, or clean amp and gain from pedals? that's going to really affect the appropriate answer.

my guess, with a $1200 budget and the bands you like, you're best bet would be a v4 or a marshall 2203 and a good set of dirt pedals will be your best bet. i saw a v4 yesterday for sale for $550, but it was local pick up only and too far from me to make it worth it, but they're out there. $800 is even worth it if it's in great shape. we've all just got to accept that the price is rising. buy one now though. they'll be crazy in a couple of years.

i'll just catch up to your discussion in a couple of days. don't have time now. grandpa's gotta get to bed for work.

also, that sleep cover of snow blind is so awesome. i first heard it a few years ago and it's probably my favorite sabbath cover i've heard. they slow it down just a little and it's perfect.

amps are awesome.

understandable bro, maybe mention the quote instead of quoting a big post?

I got the wedges set up with new speakers. Delta 12a's in one, and celestion 70 80's in the other, as that was what I had on hand. The one with the eminence sounds great. the 70 80's are usable, but not awesome. Kinda what you'd expect from the speakers. So I think this will work. Might try them at practice prior to Saturdays show and if it's working out, use them there.

I don't know how much national coverage it has gotten, but there has been a horrible tragic disaster here in Wa. A mudslide took out about one square mile of neighborhoods. the numbers keep changing, 25 are known to be dead and 90 are still missing. that will likely be updated tomorrow. I've been in touch with the other bands from this weekends show and we are all going to donate whatever we raise towards Oso relief. We're still deciding where to put the money. It likely wont be much so some of us may go out of pocket with what we can afford to add to what we raise.
Imagine the block you live on, and the block up from you, and the block down from you. Now imagine it under 40 feet of mud. and it happened in seconds. Awful.

dude AXx...those wedges looks great.

I have an idea...a bit spinal tap...but hear me out. You put some hinges on those wedges and attach them together...then install some kind hydraulic system so you can press a button and the thing opens up.

Imagine it...you're starting your set...theres a dry ice machine smoking out the stage...you hit the low E...then you press a button and the closed wedges slowly open up and the sound start to get louder and wider and the wedges get to their fully open position...then drummer counts in and you fuckin rock out!...crowd goes wild...girls in the front row get wet...

Hey guys, first post in the doom room, just been lurking a whole lot. A lot of gear lust has been coming from this particular board lately :D
I gotta try and start posting here and get into the discussions.

I know this guy, he owns a record shop a few blocks away from my house, nice as hell and he has A LOT of amps.

So if I like a bunch of bands that are into Sabbath, and I say to myself "Y'know, Self, a bunch of your favorite bands are into Sabbath, so maybe you should check them out," and I give them a shot, and I'm not into Sabbath...then what? Because I did that, and I'm getting the distinct impression that this is not considered to be an acceptable outcome around here.
