Just because YOU don't think its a big deal/racist doesn't make it okay. I just think people need to learn a little more respect instead of immediately jumping to defend a symbol of a historically oppressive group.

The thing with the swastika is that for thousands of years it was a symbol of peace, and then the Nazis used it for their shitty purposes. The Confederate flag was made for a nation that seccedded from the United States over many issues, and one of the big (main) issues was slavery. The Confederate flag's entire history is rebellion and oppression.

Yeah, that's true. Same with the odal rune. But now skinheads wear it. The bad kind. And I know it's a bit of a stretch to make the nazi to confederate jump, but you see what I mean?

Why any state would still want to fly the flag is beyond me. It is absolutely a symbol of oppression

. Also, D.o.S, I wasn't yelling at your or anyone here! I hope that didn't come off that way. I was yelling at the person who made me feel mad enough to post here lol.

What, no, I'm not offended and I didn't think you were yelling at me.

And I totally get it. I think the Stars and Bars doesn't really deserve a place in a government building (we hardly fly flags of the various indigenous people that lost wars in the founding of the USA, after all) But I think that Spacey nailed it:
SPACERITUAL wrote:The south, SC, WV, AL, and MISS most specifically, is a hot, poor, festering, stagnant, shitty place to live. It fucking sucks. Endless miles and miles of trailer parks, wal marts, kentucky fried chicken, fucking vape shops, and a church on literally every corner. Everyone is pregnant all the time. Everyone is fucking stupid. If you don't like football, big trucks, duck dynasty and bow hunting, you are a FUCKING ALIEN. Its every shitty stereotype about america rolled into one. And everyone knows it. Even the rednecks. This place is hell. The problem is, where the fuck are they going to go? Its not like they actually want to stay here, but they are too stupid, scared, or poor to get the fuck out. So they stay. Everyone is married and pregnant the second they leave high school....if they make it that far.

I think for them the confederate flag represents the only thing they can take pride in. This place is a shithole but its THEIR shithole and they do things the way they've been doing it since the civil war ended. Fuck the rest of the world cause they can read and why the fuck would they want to come here anyway.

To challenge the confederate flag is to ask them to apologize and acknowledge how shitty and pointless their lives are. And this is not a uniquely southern problem. I think its a large part of why race still divides us. We don't exactly have a national identity. We don't have a cultural heritage. Were a bunch of warmongering greedy fuckheads living on stolen land and doing pretty much everything we can to fuck it up and take everyone else with us.

Tripped on Australia day with a few mates and one of them brough this girl who hadn't tripped before and gave her half a tab of pretty quality stuff. Anyways, she freaked out in a fairly typical fashion despite attempt to provide a friendly environment and she called some douchebag to come pick her up. Guy shows up and he's like 20 or something with the stars and bars tattooed into his neck and he was definitely Australian. Never seen something so fucking stupid in my entire life. Insta-judged.

I hurt. 24 hours a day for the last week, I have hurt. I am trying everything I can, but I still hurt. I'm constantly tired. Walking and standing is agonizing. All I want to do is sleep, but sleep doesn't help. I'm so desperate for relief that I've considered marijuana, which is really out of character for me, but the pain is too much. Throbbing, red waves of pain. Nothing is pleasant or enjoyable.

I was in so much pain today that I didn't call my father or son for Father's Day I am a failure in every way and my body is useless. I just want it to stop.

I am crushing energy drinks to switch my schedule BACK to nights again, starting Wednesday I have 15 nights @ 12-13 hours straight of dispatching, missing the week long multi-venue music festival in calgary. That means no Daniel lanois, no k.flay, no hanging out with friends/family, disrupting my girlfriends sleep habits, being too exhausted too do anything but work, then come home and collapse, wake up in the middle of the afternoon and count the hours until my shift starts over again.

2 business degrees, 5+ years experience and the best I can muster for a job is this one! Hourly it pays less than I made before going back to school, and annually it pays less than when I first graduated. The whole economy in this province is in a tailspin because our government decided putting all of the eggs in one basket was a great idea, so EVERYONE I know is either unemployed, or working 60+ hour weeks to hold onto the job they have.

Surprisingly the thing I am finding most demotivating is that when my shift ends and I have 6 days off, I can't build up the motivation to even make music. I keep playing the same redundant things, get frustrated, and end up laying on the couch imagining how amazing it would be to have a 40 hour work week, which seems a million miles away. Hell, at least if they laid me off I could go on Employment insurance and have time to job hunt.

I hate trying to explain anything to anyone.

Most of the time I get trapped into some sort of argument where I'm trying to explain to them why the argument doesn't make any sense, and they just aren't getting it.

The rest of the time I eventually figure out that they're talking about some very specific place or time which to me makes no sense when discussing an issue that may be spanning the world and/or thousands of years (eg. global warming isn't real because it's cold where I live right now).

I went to Home Depot today to get more Velcro for my pedals. I asked an employee where the Velcro is and he responded "What's Velcro?"

Man, I've been clenching my teeth a lot lately, mostly in my sleep. And I have an uneven bite, so all the pressure is on my left side. My jaw and neck and teeth have all been sore as shit.

Dude, get yourself a bite guard. I clench like crazy too, but my guard really helps with that.

The first night is a little weird, but afterwards you don't notice it. I would get one from a dentist, an athletic mouth guard would probably fall out, you want something molded to your teeth.
