All I want is to be able to draw and play guitar comfortably again. It wasn't until I got tendinitis (which IS finally starting to heal, I think...knocking on wood) that I realized how many years (yes, years....

) it's been since I could draw without any tension or pain in my hand, wrist, and/or arm. I
think I'm on the mend, but goddammit am I frustrated.

So, last Tuesday I was told I'm being laid off per July 1st because of 'cutbacks' and today, two new people were hired.
Fuck. This. Shit.

A friend of mine does hiring for some company and said they'll hire people for a month and fire them because it's cheaper than having full time employees.

Thinking I got bit on the inner forearm by a brown recluse spider while doing yardwork over the weekend. Luckily due to all the toxins I've willfully ingested over the years it takes quite a bit for any poison to really affect me. But god damn it itches......

I would get that checked though. I have heard they have a necrotising venom like our White Tail or our Wolf spiders. Nasty fuckers.

I, uh, was supposed to get a raise in February. I sort of assumed I was going to get let go because I didn't get a raise or any sort of grand summary about my *specified amount of time* of gainful employment. So I finally get said grand summary.... and they love me. How do I prod them about this (already promised) raise without getting fired?
These are gross adult problems and I don't like it. I don't like it at all.

I plan on it, and you are correct on the venom. Luckily this isn't the first time and I actually have extra of the anti-biotic they give you, but I plan on going just to be safe.

Politely ask them about it in a curious and polite way first. If you just got a performance review its logical that this is the time that they would offer it or you would ask about it.

Yeah I don't think anyone would take it badly if you just ask straight up, in a non confrontational way. That seems very reasonable around a review, especially if they love you and you previously thought you were getting a raise!

After some thorough research I'm convinced I was actually bit by a nursing web spider which is often confused for a brown recluse. Symptoms are also more inline with a bite from one of those than a brown recluse. Gonna watch it for another day or two and make sure it doesn't get worse.

Looks like all I had to do was fret about it on ILF... my boss just hit me up and said "hey we're paying you more now."
