Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I didn't love how Rusty interacted with all my Fuzzes. Some dirt reacted really well with it. Mini and my old Diabolik did well. But most really high gain stuff (TAFM, muffs) just didn't do it for me.
So I dunno how the 141g would fare.
I'll probably just keep the El Cap. I am such a fickle bastard about pedals.

I also didn't really find the rusty box great for stacking

I'm using it as a preamp directly into my interface. It's great for what I'm using it for right now, but makes my heavier fuzzes nigh impossible to tame.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I was using mine at the end of the chain as an always on preamp with a hint of grit.
I just didn't like the extra high end and squish it added to the big Fuzzes. I found when I turned rusty off everything sounded more open and powerful.
This could have also been my amp setup. Bendhy uses a RB/power amp and blasts it with fuzz all the time. It could be that my actual amp head couldn't deal with it.

Also, that new EQD verb has my attention. Maybe I don't need delay at all. Maybe I just need a bunch of reverb.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
ehh the Rusty/Boxi are the kinda pedals that aren't really suited for stacking in the first place IMO, takes away all that glorious clang if you hit it with fuzz. the Mini at lower gain is the only thing i thought worked well in that kinda scenario.
i've seen a few heavy bands play with nothing but a rusty box as bass dirt and never felt like more dirt would have been necessary, they're plenty gritty on their own.
that's just my take though. i feel like heavy fuzz and gritty clang are a one-or-the-other kinda thing.

This ^^^
I saw The Austerity Program a few weeks ago and the bassist used tuner -> RB and it was massive.
Now, you can always just use it as a sometimes on overdrive but for that I would go with Boxidizer for the 9v power. Plenty of bass with Boxi too.

Hrm. Well ive been thinking of using one as a preamp with a power amp. Though im not much of a high gain fuzz user, im using a Fat Sandwich on super low gain and a mini for dirt. & when I use the mini on high gain the bias is way low.
Suppose I wont know until I give it a try.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I was hot and cold with the Rusty until I found what worked for me, here's how I used it:
For guitar it was the only dirt I would have on. I didn't stack stuff into it for guitar.
For bass I would run my Ibanez Bottom Booster after it. Sometimes I would kick my ARC Big Green on before it but it was rare.
It really is the type of pedal that you use, at least for me, as the only source of real grit. It's tryin to emulate a particular sound of a cranked amp, so I treated it like that. There aren't many dimed or gritty amps out there that sound very great with dirt in my opinion.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I always had that Rusty Box first pedal/always on on my chain, but I had the gain turned down way low to give myself a super clean sounding platform that I threw everything on ever. Any dirt I used after, the Skychord Truckloud or SS/BS Fuck Overdrive (I'm not dig on dirt or fuzz) still sounded super killer after.

My best stacking result was similar to your plan KBI. I used the mini as like a "dirty channel" for the RB. They sound great together.

I didn't use mine like any of you guys, but I did try to use it as a preamp for an interface to run into my computer, but I didn't really like how it sounded. It does the clangy sound pretty well, but that's not something that really inspires me
