gonna try learn my way around these as much as possible before i start incorporating pedals and other stuff. i'm usually a lazy shit with learning complicated devices but the Machinedrum is pretty nicely laid out so it's fun so far.
my blofeld is buggy as hell and a complete PITA but i'm still weirdly fond of it especially for pads. want an old Juno-60 real bad though.

The Blofeld's latest OS is supposed to be much less buggy from what I've read, probably worth updating if you haven't done it yet.

Trying to decide between a Pocket Piano, Microbrute, or Volca Keys for my first synth. Thoughts?

pocket piano is more chip tune-y, can't remember if it can do chords or not. i think its monophonic.
microbrute is balls gnarly. more aggressive sound, but very versatile w/ the different wave shapes and editing/mixer matrix. also monophonic.
volca keys is poly, and also versatile. kinda more mellow/traditional sounds on the regular modes. gets pretty drone/noise/dissonant/waves crashing in the ring modes.
currently the cheapest polyphonic synth (and analog) on the market today i'm pretty sure. most other synths don't even touch the price and most of them are monophonic! poly synths are muy muy these days.

volca keys is definitely best for noise/ambient/experimental sounds i think but the ribbon keyboard is annoying and it feels kinda insubstantial cos of the housing. has a MIDI in jack though if you have a controller.
the pocket piano has some patches that are monophonic and some that are polyphonic i'm pretty sure, which makes it pretty versatile. i would go for the MIDI version though.

I would really like to have a quarter inch out though, which is what originally turned me away from the volca.

Think what it comes down to (correct me if I'm wrong):

No quarter inch (though I suppose I can just use a converter with the aux jack)

Based on that, I mean the volca keys is pretty much the obvious choice other than the keyboard and the lack of a quarter inch, but I have fairly small hands and I can get an aux adapter if I wanna it through an amp/my pedalboard (right?)

Plus, with the volca I can later get the other ones and be super-duper happy.
