Also I sweat a fair bit so I'd just have a smelly, glistening tiger living under my arm.

It sounds cool in a way to get the ruler but at the same time, I don't know if that would translate correctly IMO at least.

I think the placement of something like that on your forearm is going to ruin it if you ever want to be sleeved out.

The reason being is it's supposed to be straight and accurate, where as your body has contours that don't adhere to those rules. If I were going to do that, I'd make sure to approach it artistically and not as something that's meant to be realistic.

Totally a "my opinion thing". Don't listen to me if you don't think I have good advice. LOL.

What I think would be cool is possibly something you would find lame you know?

If it were me, I'd either make the ruler kind of wavy to go with the contour of my arm or add something else to the image to make it a more complete design.

So for instance, you could make the ruler with a few different aspects of carpentry and maybe make them in the right timeline of when he was a carpenter. That way you don't just have a solid ruler on you and you'll have something meaningful and in remembrance.

When I get a tattoo these days I always think "how can I connect this to something else"? Meaning, having a nice flow of ink if I want the piece to be expanded later into a different area.

My artist is very good at this. He'll piece shit together with no issue. But some guys will leave you with hard lines that have no way of looking right if you wanted to be sleeved out.

I guess, it's just how you want to approach things. It's your body right? I just think of things in the way they flow. So if you do a ruler, I do think the inside of the forearm would look better than the outside or on the biceps area.

the fact you care i'll be happy with what i'm going to permanently ink into my skin means quite a bit so i take stock in your opinion.

I've only got a few tats so no where near Jwar level of experience, but I'm with him on the ruler thing.

I think the fuzz ruler thing could be cool as part of instruments theme, like a small ruler amongst other instruments spread out over a body with something to in the back ground to bring it all together in a theme.

It needs work. I'm going to get the lines tidied up and then the yellow and blue extended in a different style. I'll post one of my girlfriend's when she gets back from work. It's a wave, and the way it's done just looks amazing. I'd like mine to have the same less abrupt end to the rays, using the same style as the wave.
