I'd play the 'Stangström if it weren't the full price of a 75 mustang
Of course wired like Chris Squire's (Chris Squier? ) with the bridge pup going to a guitar amp

Yeah, price is a little high.
If the luthier who did that worked at Matt Umanov, must be solid work. At first I thought it might be a bit too much tension for such a little bass, but Mustangs aren't that much more heavily built than a Hagström.

the neck's pretty chunky on those i recall and they have a truss rod. i wouldnt want much heavier strings than .100s for comfort reasons playing an 8. Going a gauge or two lighter probably would benefit the tone with that much harmonic content. So tension probably's fine. Like you say if a Hagström's fine a mustang bass most likely is. I've played Hagströms that are toothpicky even compared to like jazz bass (which made me think of a pretty famous hack). Though I wouldn't pay full price even if leo himself or any luthier for that matter if they did THIS
But yeah that other ...thing. Surely somebody has got to have posted the 4001 the dude in manowar plays
If not, well... be reminded!

Big Joe!
Plus, this record has some pretty gratuitous amp tremolo on it:
re: dat mayobass - i finally looked closely at the neck - i'll admit i haven't listened too closely to Mayowar, but how does one even play functional bass with that string spacing?
I could see if you were rolling Sandman style. Oh wait is he doing 2-note power chords all the time?
I guess I could see that from a playing style angle, but how good could that really sound?
I guess I now have a reading/listening project for the boring parts of THXgvng - or maybe more inspiration to make it a Danksgiving
