A few weeks back I broke my Stone Deaf PDF-1. Somehow I managed to snap the 'Clean/Dirty' switch. I think I kicked or stomped on it in the dark. Pedal stopped working. So I had to send it off to Manchester to get repaired. I figured while it was there I'd get Luke at Stone Deaf (solid guy, by the way - did right by me) to add in an expression pedal jack. Then I figured I'd get him to send me an expression pedal when he shipped it back, which he did. And he only charged me for the expression pedal.
So here it is:

Image

Very well made, solid as a house brick. It's a got a nice, big throw on the gear, too. By turning the 'Output' knob fully clockwise you can get some very cool wah sounds. Go counter clockwise and you can get a kind of manual phaser sound. As a wah, it sounds very wide and very wet - more like a Mu-tron than a proper wah. Works nicely with da fuzz, too.
With the setup in the pic (guitar is Harvester #42) it sounds like this:

Out: Guitar Disruptor

In: Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz V.1 and Tremolo

I know, I know, Danelectro is a shitty company, but the tremolo is the closest I have gotten to the sound I want and I am never going to own a real Peach Fuzz. I'll buy some boutique picks or something to make up for it.

Well, I guess I might get one, after all. I'll preview it in my rig with the Dano.

I've thought about it every now and then since I heard about them a couple of years ago or whatever, but now it's so clear that I NEED ONE.

^ In the end it was kind of lucky I busted mine. I would never have sent it back to get the expression pedal input otherwise, and I only thought about it because someone - probably Chank - mentioned it here. :thumb:

Yeah, I've wanted to get that mod done ever since they announced it. :thumb: Glad you got it done, Horsey.

Even before they started doing it, I thought the PDF-1 could definitely benefit from an expression pedal. I kinda haven't wanted to spend the cash on their proprietary expression pedal, but it seems rock solid and totally worth it. Looks like it's built like a tank.

I'd love to try the Fig Fumb as well.

Maybe I'll try the RM-1N or get an RRR again. The RM-1N is probably the right answer considering I'm playing in two gaze-y bands, but the new RRR with the cute lil dinosaur / canadian sea monster is just so super adorable that I might go with that despite my best judgement. My friend wants to trade me his BlueSky he's never gelled with in exchange for me building him a delay. We'll see how this goes.
