If we end up doing that tour, we may add some CA and PNW dates on the end.

If you do let us know Worship would love to do some shows with you guys.

Come to Tacoma, play in a garage to 300 or so people, it'll be fun :thumb:

Here's a question for you dudes:

How do you find venues react to your rigs? There's a local culture around here of "A 4x12? Ridiculous! Far too loud for this place, turn it DOWN."

Loads of the local bands turn up with cheap shitey 2x12 combos, and even in the venues where they're prepared for it, volume is looked down upon.

Whenever I talk to local band dudes about my Matamp, I often get a "Why do you even need that many watts?" reaction, and I feel like having JUST a 120w amp and a 4x12 makes me a wimpy bitch around here

Sounds like Brisbane...

Although, to be fair, the one venue we do have that seems to specifically cater to heavy music (and not just bris-punk shite) does let headliners roll out multiple full stacks.
The advantages of being a basement level venue sandwiched between strip bars, I suppose.
If only they'd serve beer that wasn't watered down and overpriced. :sigh:

Welcome! If you need help or advice looking for stuff just let me know. Where are you looking to live? My gf is starting her masters of education at Brooklyn in the fall.

I have had a few venues in the city laugh at how my band has a 4x12 for each guitarist but they never complained about it. One sound guy said bands only need a 15 watt but his venue had a good PA so he was right. We kinda get away with it as we are instrumental and don't need to worry about getting vocals above everything else.

Most places get worried and say they are going to get noise complaints. My response is always... then pay me not to play otherwise fuck yourself I didn't haul this all here to not set it up, I don't fucking care if we play here again. I also tell them if they are going to mic me out... I tell them not to bother.

and i honestly mean it I fucking hate going out to play shows on a whole. Just so much trouble for frrrt. But for some reason I still crave to and then when it comes to it I just wish I wasn't.

We once played a show where our guitarist was asked to turn his full stack down. He stood next to his amp letting his guitar feedback wildly but didn't touch a dial before we ripped through our set. In some rooms I think sound guys get a little big for their britches. All these DIY venues that suddenly think because somebody is "running sound" that everything has to be mic'd up and I'm doing a quick survey of the 25X25 space or whatever and wondering what the fuck they're slapping a microphone in front of speakers for.

No in a venue where there's decent sound and decent space I may be inclined to find compromise but I'm seldom playing in any place that's truly legit.

We usually just don't play those type of places. If by an odd odd chance we do, I talk to the sound guy ahead of time and make sure he understands that this is what he will have to deal with. I let him know non of our amps have master volumes and they are loud when we push them to that spot we want. I also tell him if he can't handle that type of job that I will/can take over the sound board for him.... That last part usually shuts them up and they cooperate. I don't care about being an asshole in places like that because, again, that's not usually our type of venue to begin with.

I guess we are really lucky. The venues we play around here love how loud we are. In Santa Cruz they are always trying to see how far down the street they can hear us and never tell us we can't use all of our gear. We also recently played Gilman and hit 115 db and the sound guy was pumped because he had never saw the meter get up that high.
