I got the Et65s to go in the middle row of my 6x12 with 55hz Reapers on the top and bottom and they sound so good. The only issue with m8ine is that I think I for sure have one of the Et65s about to go out and the other is possible. It gets really farty when playing through my Matamp on cleans or fuzz at gigging volume. Not so much with the Soldano. I got the Et65s from their discount thing where people have returned them. Looked brand new, all of em. Matt's too. He hasn't had any problems with his but mine are kinda farty. I took the back off of the cab and checked to make sure that nothing was coming loose and it was all ok. I really don't know how to tell if a speaker is blown unless is just stops working all together or I see a rip in the cone though. I'd get ET65s again for sure, but next time I'd just buy them new instead of their discounted stuff. I don't think it has anything to do with it as I'm sure they test them out and all, but still. I'd feel better about it. This happened right after the return period was over but I still haven't emailed WGS to see what they think it might be. They did have great communication when I was emailing them about which speakers would be best for the sound I was going for. Just thought that would be worth mentioning if you're gonna go with WGS.misterstomach wrote:band photo time!samzadgan wrote:So much speaker advice...this stuff needs to be written down into a doom bible! So sitting here on a hospital bed...had my second operation today...thankfully dont need a third one! Its all good...but something unerving about seeing blood coming out my cock...my gown has blood stains covering the crutch area, which is so metal!
i actually found conky's thread from a while back about speaker advice, which had skip chiming in with some very relevant wisdom to my current situation. definitely seeming like the gt65's are what i'm looking for. i didn't realize that it was sort of based on the greenback. i love the sound of greenbacks, but they're not high enough wattage for me to feel comfortable with. i'm worried i'd shred them in short order. but the 65's sound great. i'm kind of leaning towards the wgs et65's. sounds like they're maybe a little brighter and closer to a v30, which i like and based on the specs on all the manufacturer's websites, it seems that they're more efficient than the others, which i like. get a little more volume out of my rig. and, they're waaayyy cheaper than the others. which rules. i've been in touch with a certain cab builder about some ideas i have, so we'll see how that shakes out. i appreciate everyone's help on here.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
The best test for faulty speaker i've done is put a 9volt battery into its harness and take the wires and put them against the speaker connectors. the speaker should pop if it doesnt then its faulty.
Come to think of it, thats for a dead speaker...it may not be an applicable test for yours.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
good to know. and thanks for pointing me to this speaker. it sounds like if i go with a new cab build it'll end up about the same price for any of the variants, so if i go that route i'll probably just go with the actual celestions. although it does sound like the webers and the wgs ones all have their various strengths and their own character. if i end up just buying speakers, i'll probably just go with the WGS since their so much cheaper for me and seem like they're great. i'm actually thinking of just going on and buying two of them to replace the melted v30's. it would break my rule of not mixing speakers in a cab, but it would at least get my cab up and running so i'd have it while waiting on new cabs. and it'd be a lot easier to sell with four working speakers.conky wrote:I got the Et65s to go in the middle row of my 6x12 with 55hz Reapers on the top and bottom and they sound so good. I want to buy myself a birthday present and the numbing cream is not keeping up with my priapism.

My wife made friends with the singer at the Young Widows show. She was really cool. Invited us to come hang out when we're in Atlanta. So, we're going to do that for sure.odontophobia wrote: Anybody into Royal Thunder? I'm jamming the new record now. Digging it so far but not very deep into these cuts. Plus copious amounts of beer.
They're not normally what I'd be into, but they do it well. And I have a soft spot for bands where the singer plays bass.

Anybody have any suggestion for two-in-one dirt boxes that have separate switches for each pedal but a master bypass for the effect?
