Anyone have any good band suggestions with one guitarist? I wouldn't even mind suggestions with really basic 2 guitar bands. I've got most of the basics, High on Fire/Sleep/etc, UFOMAMMUT, Electric Wizard, Earth, Sabbath, Soundgarden, so on and so forth. I'm having trouble with "post"-XXX bands, as pretty much all of my favorites use 2 guitars or more. Anything more ambient in this category would be massively appreciated.

Since you talked about layering see if you can find some Helms Alee footage. That guy does a nice job of layering looped parts / drones under a few of their songs.

Also, a long time ago I played drums in a band and found it quite easy to trigger loops and things using some switches near my left foot. Your guitarist turned drummer could use a Jamman or something with stored loops.

Here's a new song that we are gonna have on the full length. There is no bass track on it yet. Our bassist is recording his tracks and then emailing them to me. Should have it later today. Left channel is Matt's MusicMan HD150 with a Dunwich HM2 (the kit, not the 6 knob) and the right is Matamp GTO with a Badascan. Solo is still too loud I think but I'll fix it later. Just wanted you guys to hear it because I'm pretty pumped about how its all sounding but I'll probably pull it later on today so it doesn't get out there too much before the album is done.

This shit is sick! :yay: The solo isn't absurdly loud, it could maybe come down just a bit but overall it sounds fantastical!

What was witht he really odd scooped EQ on the Dunwich clone? I like the Taiwan made Boss alot, the LHP was no better than any of the boss's and the LHW didn't sound much like an HM-2 to me. The LHW seemed to be the commenters favorite, but it was the least HM-2 sounding of the bunch... so you like the one that's least like the pedal its supposed to be modeled after?!?!

Here are some bands that have only one guitar (and in some cases, no bass) yet have massive sounds. None are really "post-" bands per se, but that doesn't mean they don't provide useful insight.

Conan
In the Company of Serpents
Holly Hunt
Primitive Man
Fister (seriously, their split with P/M has some of their most expansive stuff to date, and they're a trio)
The Lion's Daughter (unless they're back to 2 guitars, but for most of the time they've been a trio)
KHEMMIS. Doomed heavy metal. DECEIVER out 11/19/21 on Nuclear Blast.

GLACIAL TOMB. Misanthropic death/black/sludge. S/t debut out now on Gilead Media.

Good deals with: Ancient Astronaught, conky, crohny, D-Day, Corey Y, ryan summit, tons more here and on HCFX under this username

Also, if you're not looking for specifically metal, Yawning Man is fucking expansive -- and they've always been a trio on record:

This, pretty much exactly. I was all psyched for the dunwich, but then they scooped it to shit. Overall pretty good demo though, and just reinforces that the MIJ and MIT debate is horse shit. I preferred the MIT but the difference was so slight that it wouldn't matter in any real situation.

To be fair, I had a MIJ HM-2 I used to play through my early V4, just like the video, and I would get a much much thicker sounding tone/sound. I don't think the recording gave the best of each pedal, or even close to what the room sound was, unless they set the tones that thin on purpose. The video made the MIJ version sound really thin and scooped, as well as the Dunwich, but I can imagine them sounding entirely different in person.

in completely unrelated news, i just applied for the world's strangest job. writing online dating profiles for rich men who can't or don't want to do their own. the job also includes actually corresponding through email with women as though you are the actual dude in order to try to get them a date. i can't believe it's even real. it's kind of against my ethics, since it's so dishonest, but it's just so weird i wanted to see what it's all about. and i'm unemployed and bored. and i figure, women who are trying to hook up with rich men on the internet should be expecting that they're dishonest assholes anyway, so what's the harm? i'm not going to get the job anyway.
