Old enough to know delay goes before dirt.

TGP gets a bad rap...but a lot of the most self-righteous (and contentious) users make me recall the type of nerds who'd remind the teacher to collect homework assignments that made your favorite subject seem boring. Only they're all 30 years your senior...
Maybe ILF gets a bad rap over there as a site for juvenile misfits who dwell in the back of the class. Art class. For the gifted weirdos, stylish hacks, and talented cooler kids
i think my main problem with TGP, maybe stupidly, is that i never really get the impression that these coveted pedalboards ever leave the house or are ever used to do anything other than emulate someone else's tone.
i mean, i buy boutique pedals and occasionally i think, "why am i bothering spending $$$ on something that the audience wouldn't be able to hear any discernible difference when it's being blasted at them at 100-110dB?".
however, i'd argue there's alot less fetishisation and pedal of the month style attitudes around here

Thanks guys, stoked to get him into the madness. First test out of his setup is today.
And btw, I run delays pre and post. So this kid is looking at a second delay soon.

Re: Let's see your PEDAL BOARD!
We're kidding ourselves if we think there is less fetishisation here. But there aren't a lot of fly-by-nighters and bullshit pedals here, and trends are often ones that stay for a looong time because the pedals are good and offer something new and not just well marketed. What I like most is that people can get jazzed about an all Boss board consisting of 2nd hand finds, or unobtanium vintage stuff like UG's hangar of pedals, or cutting edge shit like Hexe, Montreal Assembly and Sonic Crayon. Even DoD Death Metals get love here. People have a lot of different ideas about what sounds cool, and are prepared to get psyched about other people's ideas of what's cool even if it's pretty different to their own.

And also around here we don't buy into that gastropod Dumble and his crystal lettuce bullshit. Also here we P&W doom and noise.

It's a different kind of fetishisation and like you say, trends to seem to persist for longer. I haven't been here long, but I haven't seen anyone mention a Klon and I feel fucking happy about that.

Re: Let's see your PEDAL BOARD!
Run a search for "hitler klon" and enjoy.
Goroth nailed it, "People have a lot of different ideas about what sounds cool..." and the community rigs reflect it. Seeing the evolution of various setups and how they develop is intriguing; I think they resonate most when personal and generate more interest when less focus is spent on "nailing" a specific guitar hero's tone.
Nothing wrong with cover bands or roleplaying...but it's super awkward when someone commits to adopting identities like that...even more so when accompanied by strong opinions and intolerance. That's not to say anyone is doing it wrong, by making choices that I find tacky...and that's just it...since my own arrival I cant recall seeing a single gear nazi on ILF.

I love this place. Obviously. I'd be a fair idiot if I'd posted 5000 times at a forum I disliked. There are no sacred cows really, nor a whole lot of blind (deaf?) devotion to pedals/brands/ideals which makes it a really good place for open and honest discussion. And epic derails. Best forum ever.

Damn straight! I love seeing threads where someone has some sort of esoteric idea of what sound they're after and the thread mutates into a freeforall with people trying to suggest ideas, the OP trying to get more specific in what he/she is after, more suggestions... super fun.
