Im thinking of selling my Mini to fund an Unpleasant Surprise and then getting a Fuck OD at a later date.

I have the Mini set super starved and glitchy, And I'm pretty certain the Surprise can do that just as well. The Mini just doesn't bring the thick bass I've been looking for lately. It was the foundation of my tone for a while, but my needs have changed. I have an unpleasant surprise on a borrow/maybe buy basis. I need to make a decision either way.

this is at the root of the deeper confusion this bass has brought up.

what can i afford

i certainly have $1000. i doubt that i would end up losing money if i try to sell the bass. but should i add even more money to my increasingly large money pool of instruments? i have a MIM j bass that treats me pretty nicely, will getting a slick Ric really benefit me in any significant way? i'm equally pulled between getting one really nice example of each instrument i play and constantly circulating a cast of cheap stuff that i don't have to care about and that i can fight with
