I didn't because the only description I could've given the cops was, "he was wearing a yellow beanie and I'm pretty sure he was white." It didn't seem like it was worth the trouble. Should I have called them?

Different people define the first day of summer in various ways - last day of school, memorial day, first day the temperature breaks 70F, or, y'know, the solstice. But for me it's today, the first street fair on our block. The first day of summer and I hate summer.

Starts around 6am, with the sound of car alarms going off as the NYPD breaks into the cars parked on the street before they tow them to an undisclosed location. Around 8:30am the music starts. The same canned casio latin beat. Over and over, progressively louder as the day drags on, until sometime after 9PM. And there's no escape. Windows closed, radio/sonos on in every room of the apartment, and even in the back bedroom, there's no fucking peace whatsoever. By midday there will be a couple hundred people on the block, and people will be drinking and shouting and throwing shit until 2 or 3 in the morning. And cleaning up most of the mess will be left to those of us that actually live on the block.

It'll be like this at least one weekend per month from now to/thru september.

My wife hates it too. Not as much as I do, but she's more vocal/obnoxious about it. But for some reason doesn't want (let) me to retaliate. Can't get away with a sniper rifle, but would love to put my 4x10 and 2x15 in the front street facing windows, run some Merzbow through my feedback loop, and crank the Traynor to fucking 11. Just reinforces my recent daydreams of picking up cheapo vintage powered amp heads/mixers. There's a 1200W Peavey on CL for $30 - that could do some damage and help correct the balance of power.

So fuck summer. Fuck NYC and fuck street fairs and fuck not being able to have any peace in your own environment.

Ugh, so I got a city ordinance violation for public intoxication (crashed a wedding reception) last summer. Now that I'm applying for jobs I wish I could leave it off since it's not a misdemeanor or anything. And now that I think of it I got a ticket for being in a park after hours like two years ago. Is all this shit on my record? I realize its illegal for them to use this stuff from hiring me (its not "substantially related" to the job), but I just hate having to put it on a job application.

I'm only getting one five-hour shift this week, and last week I only got two. They told me I'd be getting 20 hours a week at the very least.
Also, my pay rate's totally been fucked up and I didn't even get paid for last week.

fucking sick and tired of everything i'm doing. the training that's been occupying my last two weeks and still has another week to go, the continuing process of adjusting my medication so i can feel a little better while still being debilitated by depression, the trying to find things to like about the place i live when i miss California like a child misses his mommy...i just don't see the up side of all this at the moment. i can't quite get myself to believe that things are going to get better or normal again. i just want this weird painful limbo to cease.
