As the owner of both I say Matamp. You can find a Les Paul anytime. Around my neck of the woods you never see a Matamp. Plus it sounds too fuckin sweet.

Sam is in the UK, so he has the option of heading over to the House of Matamp and talking shop.

I'd say get the head if you're coming back to Oz. You'll kick yourself when you see what they retail for down here....if you can find one.

I mean....

That price is crazy. If you could talk him down a bit and then part it out you could probably profit. Haha.

Unreal.

I also weigh in on the Matamp. having an LP shipped to you is far cheaper and easier to accomplish than any head.

Ok...looks like its unanimous! Matamp it is.

As Pope said...I'm in UK...so going to make a trip out to the factory try their amps and work out the specs. Right now I'm thinking standard GT1 with KT88's...with an attenuator.

I just gotta secure that next job!

I brought the doubleneck just to show off as last time they were all disappointed that I left it at home. Busted a string on the Sg and ended up using it to finish the session. Fuck that things heavy. Sounded great, but heavy. I need to buy a back brace thingy like you see the folks at home depot wearing. We did get through the song we wrote and got new parts written for another that was mostly pre written. I like where things are going with those dudes.

Well I guess we have one naysayer who does not like it so...
Me, I gives a shit. as long as it's not completely stupid, I'll run with anything. It's damn hard to find a name that is not in use.

So I just got back on Sunday after being deployed since April. (96 hour deployment notification/ boots on ground are fucking gay.) I'm so far behind on here that getting back on and posting is a bit overwhelming. Glad to be back. I was greeted by the biggest honey-do-list I've had to date. Luckily for me I get to spend my next two weeks while on leave to work. Practiced with the band yesterday and shit it's done exciting stuff. We ran through a new song they've been working on and I'm looking forward to the near future. We've decided to get in the studio fairly soon and record a four song ep. It's awesome that my guitarist is capable of being self reliant on writing for the most part considering shit like deployments can just "pop" up. We're going to record with the same guy who did the last In The Company of Serpents. I'm blown away by how cheap the guy quoted us. ( 8 hours at $150.) So that's definitely gonna happen. My Dr Scientist Bitquest should get here Monday. Super stoked to fuck around with that one.(Never thought a multi effect could actually be this exciting.) Does anyone in here that purchased one use theirs on bass? Opinion? Other then that it's really just getting back in the swing of things. I'm addicted to searching Craigslist and forums for gear and information about gear. I'm so incredibly susceptible to GAS it hurts my head. If it's not one thing it's another. Aside from the Bitquest, I just ordered one of the Geezer emg p pickups today.( called musician friend and got them to discount it 15%. If there's one top I could give, it's that you should always call and haggle prices for everything. Especially if it's offered from more then one source.)

I've finally gotten through to my wife that I NEED to get out of the army. It's pretty much 98% gonna happen. Only thing that will keep me in is if I can't secure a job pre ETS.(Date I get out, who's is next April.) She gives birth to our second son in August, so there's really no room for uncertainty. I reclassed from Infantry to satellite communications about 4 years ago with the intention of getting out with a marketable skill. I've recently been seeing many SATCOM guys get out with good jobs. Colorado is full SATCOM jobs.(but I'm really going to end up back in Louisiana, but that's a whole other tangent.) There's no reason why I shouldn't be able to. The hard part was convincing my wife of that. I'm at 9 years now, but the security the army gives me is just not worth it. It's a completely different form of stress and bullshit. I just want a normal fucking life. Well shit I'm guessing you guys get my point. This shits just been on my mind non-stop recently.

Well I hope that everyone has had great fortune and happiness since last we talked. I'll be around. It's great to be back.
(I'm not proofreading this, so I'm sure autocorrect has fuct me at least once.) ;)

Super fucking bummed out tonight. The drummer I secured for a new band sent me an email tonight telling me he's bailing. We were scheduled to start weekly practices and start trying out guitarists this Thursday. After weeks of trying people out, finally getting a drummer in place, negotiating schedules and booking a weekly block with rented drum kit at an hourly rehearsal studio (an hour drive away, because here is a wasteland for musicians, venues and practice spaces). So I gotta try to cancel the booking before I get charged, unless I find a new drummer before Tuesday or so. Not looking very likely at the moment. Starting to wonder now if everyone really is this insanely flakey (got like 6 people flaking on appointment in this process, not counting people who just never called/emailed back) or if there's something wrong with me and I'm just oblivious to it.

That really fucking sucks. Nothing worse than flakes. It's really sucks that drummers are such a needle in a haystack. The whole process of searching for bandmembers just blows. Between flakes and people who waste your time because they believed it when their mom said they were good. Good luck man.

Oh yeah, thanks for the info on the dunwich pre.

No problem, I could never give Dunwich anything but a glowing recommendation honestly. Thanks for the commiseration, I'm not going to let it stop me making music. Either I keep searching for a drummer or I do something else and find another way to press on. Not too much I can do without a drummer gigging wise, but I have options for recording. I do really want to gig though, I wanted to 4 years ago when I joined a band that I thought was headed towards that in short order and ended up just spinning wheels for 3 years.

That's really driving me right now. I just want to play a crushingly heavy note at ridiculous volume while standing on a stage. Second to that would be to have a vinyl of a ep/album/split/whatever with me on it that I can be proud of. I'll take it one step at a time, but ima hold onto those dreams as long as I think they can become a reality. After that point I'll move them over to the regret column.

I was really upset to learn yesterday that the treble knob on my acoustic 370 has no effect till about three o'clock which is way too high for it to be useful to me. That a new thing since last I touched it. I don't think any funny business happened, I just assume that it was its time. Fuck gear repairs, that cash can easily have go towards something else.
