Well, this was supposed to be a fuzz pedal... but it turned into a synth!

So... this is very much work in progress, still missing some pieces and it will still take a little time to get everything together, but since I'm very excited: here's the heart of the secondary syth setup for my band.

Dwarfcraft RotYrBrain (my trusted noise synth I've had fun with for years) has been my weapon of choice and I've steered away from keyboards thus far. Even my band mates 5U modular synth + Moog Voyager runs without a keyboard. BUT...

I chose to try hitting notes every now and then with the Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1 Polivoks. I got this little box for my 40th birthday recently (from my University colleagues) so I added a small midi keyboard here. Both synths go into an old, small Behringer mixer, with the ancient Digitech TSR-12 rack fx for reverbs and pitch shifting and shit (controlled with an equally ancient midi foot controller not pictured). And I might add to this a Boss RC-50 looper for readily recorded stuff. Like backmasked samples of pentecostal lay preachers' ranting against rock music and remixed messages from their speeches they'd not approve. Stupendous amounts of crazy fun! :joy:

Also, :whoa: I was told by band mates I'm going to need yet another used midi keyboard since I'm going to get Waldorf Streichfett also for birthday present later on, for polyphonic cheesy strings straight from 70's softcore porn movies.

About the only thing I'm still wanting is Mellotron. My friends and sponsors are really just not that wealthy  and I feel spoiled and fuzzy-happy already! This is going to be really, really fun.

Got this for free on CL today. Seller just let me have it when we tried to test it and the internal speakers didn't work. Got it home and it works fine with headphones or line out. And dat swagg casio stand! :omg: it's a HT-6000 which is a weird mix of home keyboard and real synth but I'm digging it so far, really easy to program for an 80's synth with no manual.

:?: :) ...it's basically RotYrBrain into mini micer with some rack fx in the loop. But... sure, here's some not very recent takes from the rehearsal place and a gig:

But I'll drop some fun tests later with both RotYrBrain and the Shruthi. :omg:

Awesome! Sounds cool. It's hard to find audio of people actually playing those boxes.

awesome setups on this page. this is what i'm working with now:

these ikea shelving units are really useful. i've seen them used as racks for foogers, rack effects, and synth modules.
hopefully, i'll be able to add a Machinedrum and a RE301 to this setup one day.

Yeah, I noticed that too when I was buying one and wanted to hear a demo or two ...strange.

Perhaps it's the joysticks that people find hard to live with, and the fact that it's ALWAYS ON :idk: Which I find really cool, a statement for noise! One could say it isn't very versatile BUT what it does, it does really good. Plus it's a dirt cheap alternative for a modular set up to do what it does. A shame it's discontinued.

Ikea is definitely the friend of cheap boards and cheap furnitures for musician, haha.

Looks like Mutable Instruments, Harvest Man and 4MS too.
Agreed though, looks nice. The one thing I am wondering though is where are the sound samples?
