I had a huge hardon for star wars till the prequels. the first one was so bad I didn't bother with the other two.

Love high fantasy more so, also love comics and all that bullshit. So does my wife, hell she's more on top of getting comics I'd want as well and going to cons and shit like that cause I never keep up with any of that.

I have always liked fantasy but I am kinda picky about it. A lot of it is so generic that I just can't read it or watch it. A lot of High fantasy is like that. Same for sci fi that is really science fantasy or star wars or star trek with the serial numbers filed off. I have been reading the Discworld books recently and I am surprised I never read them when I was younger. Overall they are all pretty great with some being better then others. They also cover a lot of different styles and genres with some being funnier or more serious. I like the Death novels which tend to be more serious and the City Watch novels which are like crime novels.

As for comics I have been reading through the Atomic Robo comics that I haven't read before. Atomic Robo is good shit for anyone who is into comics but haven't heard of it before. I met the creators at New York Comic Con last year and they signed a book for me. I suggest checking out one of the Dr. Dinosaur stories for your first story. It is less serious then the other stories but hilarious.

As for the stain, I'm probably going to put another layer on to make it a bit darker which will be followed by some tung oil which may add a bit more darkness to it as well. I put the first layer on rather thin as I still want a lot of the grain to show through. So there are a lot of spots that are rather light. Overall the color is more grayish right now so hopefully the next layer will darken it up a bit.

His stuff is so good. He puts in so many little clever bits that if you pick up on them it just makes the story that much better. There have only been a few books that I didn't like as I have been trying to read through them in chronological order since he ties all of them together subtly. Mainly the Witch series of books as they seem to be written in a more "young adult" style which to me always seems so pandering and purposefully under written.

My brother is a big Terry Pratchett fan. I used to see his books littered all throughout the house.

If you haven't seen this, you'll love it. It's still one of my favourite jokes. I remember watching it years ago over and over again.

And for the nerd thing, people just don't understand stuff outside of their own likes. I have been nerdy as long as I can remember digging on stuff like sat wars and lord of the rings. Family means well and they try and buy you stuff for christmas or a birthday but it is always weird shit. Like "Oh this has a wizard on it, He'll like it." And it is one of those tshirts you buy at target that is from the 90's with a wizard, dragon and flames but is just kinda lame.

I have decided that these kinds of shirts are very cool. If anybody wants to donate their lame fantasy shirts to me... I wear a size Medium.

I've been reading primarily fantasy for a long time, particularly after graduating and being able to read more leisurely.

I don't do a lot of comics but there are some things I enjoy quite a bit. I've been reading Saga, which is great. I started Letter #44 and I really enjoyed that. I think The Sixth Gun is fucking awesome. I don't really do the superhero shit these days. I like it, here and there, but I'm generally not all that interested.

New Cymbals Day





Brand new for less than a 3rd of what it would be off of Guitar Center or other big chains. The Saluda bell was brand new from the factory and it only cost 20 bucks plus shipping. The first one I ever got from them I emailed them asking about them and they sent me one for free to try out. I'm gonna check out their other crashed and rides too because they seem to be well made. They also have an insurance program for you other drummers in here that warranties ANY brand for 10 years. If it cracks and the crack is under 1/2" they will replace it with a comparable cymbal for free. I don't know any cymbals that have lasted 10 years in out style of music so I just thought I'd pass it along to you guys. Don't have the paper with the link but I'll post it later if any of you guys want it.

Nice score. Sabian makes a lit of nice cymbals these days. I would consider it, but I think I have hit my limit on cymbals for the time being.

ilovefuzz needs an I love drums thread. A lot of the drum forum sites are pretty slow moving. Where do all of your drummers go for forum fixes?

I actually don't read a ton of high fantasy, I like historical nonfiction for that. Terry Pratchett is great though I've read only 2 of his books. My reading is all over the map as far as what I sit down to read but I have more books about snipers and WW2 than anything. I just like what I like I suppose you can say.

I'm a SciFi guy. I really only get into fantasy when it plays like SciFi, with really specific laws and rules that can be explored and tested to logical conclusions. I get really into the world building and internal logic of fictional worlds. I always come up with questions and musings on them that seem incredibly obvious or compelling to me, but are rarely or never addressed. Like how the Klingons must have become a feudal and warrior obsessed culture only after achieving a post scarcity/warp capable society or why no one in Harry Potter devotes extensive research to wandless/wordless magic.
