Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Bands with two drummers just make me mad, because I can't even find one. It's like wearing two gold watches on the same wrist. Especially when the band already has a great drummer and recruits another good one...stop taking all the drummers!

This is what I think of when I think of a band with two drummers:

Axehandle is fukkin sick and the exact kind of dual drummer shit I like as well.
I concur with you there, honestly your right that most of the time its a fukkin gimmic. If you have two drummers playing the same exact thing 90% of the time its boring to me. But if you have a damn good drummer and a sick "percussionist" that plays something very different to the drummer at pretty much all times I love it.
I'm also kinda
about the Melvins, they have like 2 or 3 albums I enjoy listening to. The rest I get bored with by song 3. But live they are awesome and really entertaining.
I do disagree with you on Kylesa though, I felt that adding the second drummer added more to them since they do often break away from each other and not play the same beat yet stay together. And live they tend to add more to the songs IMO which makes it even better. But hey ya can't please everyone!

Can't find a link to anything but I like Burmese who is a destructive noise/doom/grind? sorta band. it's 2 bassists and 2 drummers.
I don't care about Melvins with 2 drummers. Infact ingeneral I really don't give a shit about the Melvins for a long time and the last thing I cared about they did was Houdini. And even then I don't listen to it much. They just don't do much for me.
I just rather hear one really impressive drummer than 2 playing off each other or whaatever, that really doesn't impress me as much, it's just like having a percussionist like later day Living Sacrifice or Birushanah
But kylesa, they were better without the 2 drummer gimmick cause it's a gimmick. I've listened to them on headphones and their subtle differences aren't enough to warrent having both. if one stopped you wouldn't notice.pelliott wrote:The 2 drummers add such a punch live and on Static Tensions, it's killer.
I've seen them live with the 2 drummers. Visually it's slightly interesting but it literally did nothing for the sound or added any punch. It doesn't make a difference when it's all miced up, just added more time for setup.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I guess when I saw them they were phoning it in because they didn't break away at all. And I wasn't even drinking. I was looking forward to it because of all the gear they were bringing out and I was hoping they would play a few older songs. But really it wasn't loud, good tone but no volume, nothing was being pushed. I actually was kinda bored during the set to boot. Black Cobra that played before them just utterly destroyed them in all fronts, and I really don't care for instrumental stuff but they convienced me to purchase their albums. Kylesa I just love their sludger days.
and the time I went to see the Melvins they decided to go wander around new orleans instead of playing. I left at 1AM because I had enough of waiting around. I was told later they showed up around 2. That's bullshit and unprofessional, that really made me hate them instead of being indifferent to em.
But I'm glad you dug on Axehandle, it's been awhile since I had listened to them but they were the first one I thought of that I remember going that's some useful duel drummer stuff. It's ashame that the single album they did it's not as awesome all the way through as that song, they have some other good songs on there but some sounds like throw off Alabama Thunderpussy riffs and ideas.
Didn't know Wake Up on Fire had 2 drummers at all. Though I hadn't really listened to them all that much, only a few times when I saw their stuff on ebay and went and checked them out.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to find one guitarist and a drummer.

Lol every tour they try and add a few more drummers too. Biggest I saw was 7 of them onstage. I couldn't find that video though.

We've found it -- Astro's filter apparently revolves around jam bands.

I'm just confused, only a few of Black Cobra's songs are instrumental.

and yet those are the only ones I remember. Didn't say they were my favorite or in my current rotation of tunes either. I saw them live like 5 or so years ago. and probably close to the last time I listened to them.
