I just checked out the site, the 8 string does nothing for me.... but I kinda dig the Bane 7 string V. The price ain't too bad either.

Don at earwig studios has a vintage one like that hangign on the wall in the control room. I was up there for the stereo creeps album preview vid I did and when I walked in I instantly geeked out on that. Even had a trem on it. The finish was beautifully checked and it sounded amazing. I felt bad as I was there to help out my buddies in Stereo creeps and I totally sidetracked the project for a good 15 minutes because of that thing.

yea because none of those guitars exist yet... that's why they are all pre-orders. makes sense to me.![]()
Might as well have a mock up of the designs you are doing if you are asking for pre-orders for them.
That's hilarious. I was totally fooled when I saw those this morning! Now that someone pointed it out I don't know how I missed it.

Dudebros, suggestions for locking tuners to toss on a LP? I'd prefer 'em to look like normal LP tuners, but that's not a must-have. Years ago I had Schallers on a guitar and I loved 'em, but I know they require drilling anchor holes. I'd rather have drop-in replacements, but in the end I suppose having tuning stability is what I'm really after.

yeah, its really nice, you kinda forget to check the headstock! the guy is selling it for about GBP500...its really tempting, not that i can afford it right now, but if it had a bound neck, i think i would be selling some stuff to try and fund it...

finally got all my pedals for me second board...my "Death Metal" board!
The most surprising pedal is the Milkbox...for 30 pounds its a damn good compressor, low noise, a lot of sustain and a great attach and tone control. But that PS6 is a lot of fun...i gotta start learning some Death, i'm thinking Suicide Machine.

Agreed, and here's an elaboration of what I was referring to earlier.

and an article that talks about it as well as some other things.

this does help keep the string from moving. I always make sure that I have minimal wrap around the tuner as well, extra coils just allow for extra movement IMO.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
If you want to get a cheap set of locking tuners I just picked up a set of the guitar fetish ones. I put them on my telecaster because the original fender ones were not holding up with the downtuned strings. I just did a day of tracking with the new tuners and they were super stable. No problems with tuning at all. Here are the ones for gibson 3x3: http://www.guitarfetish.com/Sperzel-Sty ... _1172.html

I go one on top, one and a half to two below. Works well for me and I kinda know by feel how much slack to start with. experimenting with old strings is a good way to tell how much play to start with.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Why wrap the string around the post and use locking tuners? That seems to defeat the whole point of locking tuners which is speedy string changes.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
this is for regular tuners and the idea is you lock the string in place using the strings own tension.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Oh, I missed that part. I was worried this was one of those myths that locking tuners were for better tuning stability because the tuner didn't turn. I was guilty of thinking that 20 or so years ago.
