I suppose since I haven't chimed in yet I might as well:

I used to wear a high and tight, but I've started to let the top grow a little longer than usual and continue to manage the sides. Is that an undercut?
Constantly rotating facial hair, currently mustache + goatee
No tats, piercings, etc.
No more weed, cigs, but alcohol is pretty common. I get odd looks for my drinking habits (I'm not a heavy drinker, but I drink weird shit and at inappropriate times)

You guys are great for beer hunting, every time I go to restock I have something new to look for :D
Good Deal List: bearbeams, pena_55, sonidero, greyscales, ChetMagongalo, xchristophex, Monkey Boy, krautrocker, osbornkt

Fuck, I've toked out of every damn thing at this point. Joints, bongs, pipes, bubblers, vapes, cans, apples, milk cartons, a ketchup bottle bong that my friends brother would smoke tobacco out of.
Joints are my favourite though, it always seems like a nicer stonedness.
My friend in high school became the schools dealer in the twelfth grade, and lets just say that was one seriously hazy year.

It's not that my beer snobbery is too high and tells me that drinking PBR is bad. That's not true and never will be. I still drink PBR if I go out to some dive or whatever. My favorite venue in town (Spirit Caravan and Pilgrim this week, whooooooo-hooooo) always sells tall boy cans of PBR for $2 so if I go there for a show that's what I drink.

But if I buy a six pack of some craft beer I'm less apt to crush 3-5 in a night and will have one or two and be totally cool, not thirsting for the drink at all thereafter.

I imagine craft beer is not made to be chugged, while Bud or other shit is made to keep you coming back for more.

dazedbyday wrote:A lot of people are using those e cigs here in the city. It is actually kinda funny because they "smoke" them inside. At first you are like what the fuck dude, lighting up inside? Then you realize what it is as they blow out the smoke. Still strikes me as kinda weird though.

It was funny when I was in Israel, when we went to different bars, even fancy ones that obviously were very popular, people were smoking all the time, but whenever someone saw a cop or someone from the military walk by, they told everyone to extinguish or hide their cigarettes. And obviously because it's Israel they have air conditioning, and that sucked out all the smoke from the air, so there was less residue left over. It was kind of a novelty because it's incredibly strict here in Ireland, as is no under 18'ers after nine o'clock. Not because the patrons are snobs or being difficult, it's because they'll lose their license if they allow it and are caught. I've heard of bars being shut down because they didn't abide by the smoking ban strictly enough.

D.o.S. wrote:I'm so glad I'm not picky about pickups -- it seems like it would be a terrible rabbit hole.

It's not, really, to be honest, not in my experience. Some people become caught in the whirlpool of tone searching, but I rarely see it outside of the 'rich' forums (no disrespect meant) like Rig-Talk and TGP. I'm sure people do enjoy swapping pickups out, but it's not the eternal quest that some things can be. The way I see it, every pickup has a point. A P90 from Lollar has a point, whether you like the sound or not. I don't really like Stratocaster pickups very much, but they have a point and capture a sound and era that nothing else captures, so I go with it. As long as the pickups aren't veiled and muddy, I'm fine, and usually satisfied. I'm not a picky pickup'er, but I do have preferences and can tell the differences. I just know that my gear sounds good whether it be with the Korean-made pickups on my Guild or a set of hand-made Bareknuckles or Amber pickups that are made of mojo juice and fairy dust, and that makes me happy. I really want to swap out the neck humbucker in my '72 Telecaster because it has that veiled, muddy sound that I don't like. I'll replace it with a proper Wide-Range Humbucker. Whatever it is, I'm sure I'll like it.

It's cuz they keep all the good shit inside state borders.

I like a lot of Woodchuck, which says a lot cuz I don't like many hard ciders. I say go for that chocolate one.

Saying Oberon's been shitty may be an exaggeration on my part cuz a few years ago it was really really good, and the quality has suffered some since they've started producing lots of it and it isn't the same. One may still really like it.

Noted! Chocolate woodchuck it is!!!! :yay:

Our bassist bought a new amp today. Anyone have experience with these amps? We're quite happy with the sound, but it could use some tweaking.

At the last band practice we pretty much fleshed out a 6 minute song. That has never happened before because our old drummer had the memory of a fucking gnat. Sounds like a cross between early Mouth of the Architect, later Isis, and Gojira. Fucking weird but I love it. the first half is a drum jam between the drummer and I while the rest of the band lays down this sad creepy ambience and a sample of a little Bill Nye commentary. Sucks that I won't be able to play with them for at least 3 weeks. Pretty bummed about that but once I am able to play again we're gonna try to hit a studio and record.

YES. I have a Mark VI. Indestructible. It's my backup mostly because I know that it's always going to work.

I've always wanted to try this. It looks really dark to be an ale, is it closer to a stout?

Damn do I love a good stout....

Bourbon barrell aged stout.
That just blew my mind.
Sounds awesome.
And seriously, you guys don't wanna know how much smokes cost down here.
I think price is now $20+ a pack.

So, I don't smoke anymore. I don't drink that much more than a coupla beers these days. Whitbier is my jam.
And its been a long time since 4:20. Loooong time.

Also, bald, had to shave my beard back to the chin portion of a goatee for placement.

And to answer DoS: Yeah, I'm going to at least one HoF show, hopefully I can make it Bjork's thang. That will depend on cash monies and uni workload.

You guys get fucked on beer prices too. One of my best friends moved back to Australia a few years ago and had to start homebrewing to keep from going bankrupt

CaptainBoxman wrote:Changing the subject slightly, but since we're all beer snobs, how do we feel about weed and smoking methods?

Me and my friend almost exclusively use a vaporiser to get high; stealthy, economical, tastes good, gets me high as a fucking kite

Vaporizers weren't as cool/popular when I was a smoker. When I was first smoking it was all about leaf rolled Dutch Masters, after we outgrew that we didn't really care as long as it was glass. My friends were those MacGuyver make a bong out of fucking everything people, so we always had some interesting/crappy/awesome homemade stuff around too.

NH use to be cheap as well
no more livin free or dyin up there
smokes are full price
and they closed the dog track

I know we say this shit alot, but we should print out a bunch of your posts, and like redact random parts (probably the stuff obviously about gear) then just put them in a barn somewhere or on the street near a government building and see how long it takes you to get famous.

Yeah, it's an Imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels. It's ridiculously smoky, dark, thick, complex as shit, and it's like 10% ABV. One of the absolute best stouts I've ever had.

Speaking of which, I just spent $50 on stout, this is my haul:

Dark Horse Oatmeal Stout
Dark Horse Cream Stout
Dark Horse Plead the Fifth Stout
New Holland Night tripper
New Holland Dragon's Milk
