Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
FUCK how could I forget these ones.. . . .
(still for bossk)
redbear mk120: not NEARLY as loud as my 2203 but its a darker, thicker, gainier version of a jcm 800. someday my dunwich will basically be a 300 watt redbear. these motherfuckers have more bass then SVTs. you have been warned.
if youre interested in hearing one and are ever in north Hollywood ill hook you up with lunch on my bill with dr.poopenstien420, he has my old one and im SURE he would dig showing it off.
krank krankenstien+: yup, bet you didnt think THAT amp could doom. oh motherfucker you would be wrong. 120 watts via 4 6550s and enough eq options to have a dark trembling nightmare. super tight MASSIVE low end, keeps together in tight chugs but will let loose if you roll your palm back on the bridge. I miss mine. almost as much as my redbear
and finally (for now) carvin b1500:
but uncle whiskey, that's solid state and a bass amp?!?
you bet your fucking ass. get ready to get your balls fucking stomped with power specs
"The B1500 delivers 700w at 8Ω, 1250w at 4Ω and 1900w at 2Ω.@ THD <1.0%"
what does that mean? it means it will fucking obliterate ANY guitar cab with power. add another cab? lol its power just doubled, now youre fucked outta 2 cabs.
when I had one of these I had an ampeg 810e. it kicked the dogshit outta it. so I bought another 8x10e, guess what it was loud as FUCK and still would hammer those cabs if I wasn't respondsible with the volume knob. add to the fact that, for a bass amp, it is a VERY classy design. and has a super sweet super easy layout. and it has a great EQ section
Tone Controls: ±12dB @ 30, 100, 300, 1k, 3k, 10k (Hz)
oh ya baby, a 30hz eq knob. with 1250 watts @4 ohms on tap :gizz:
AND this bitch sounds great on bass, takes pedlolz great, is made in murica AND can be had used for 400 shipped EASY.
good thing cause youll need the 800$ for more cabs to please this fucker.
anyways im drunk and rambling. off to bed.

I'm imagining Whiskey as Matthew McConaughey in True Detective waxing poetic about amps while chain smoking and chugging beer.

I'm going to put celestion 70 80's on the list of shite speakers. After loading the new 2x12's last night, the one with the delta 12a's in it sounds great, the 70 80's sound like doggie poopoo. so just a PSA beware of stay away from that most of you probably are already aware of.
might try my altec 417 8h's in there but I have a feeling it will be crazy bright.

anal analogys work in every situation. it might be hard, but with a bit of work it'll fit. like anal.
It's like parking a full size car in a compact space. At first u think it won't fit but you fold in the mirrors and work your way in slowly then BAM your in.
Btw: Dan, how'd you know I was morroccan?
And then you open the doors and scratch the paint work of someone's BMW. Does that work in the anal analogy? Maybe if it was that celebrity that supposedly insured her butt.
Moroccan girls are frisky.

I got the wedges set up with new speakers. Delta 12a's in one, and celestion 70 80's in the other, as that was what I had on hand. The one with the eminence sounds great. the 70 80's are usable, but not awesome. Kinda what you'd expect from the speakers. So I think this will work. Might try them at practice prior to Saturdays show and if it's working out, use them there.
I don't know how much national coverage it has gotten, but there has been a horrible tragic disaster here in Wa. A mudslide took out about one square mile of neighborhoods. the numbers keep changing, 25 are known to be dead and 90 are still missing. that will likely be updated tomorrow. I've been in touch with the other bands from this weekends show and we are all going to donate whatever we raise towards Oso relief. We're still deciding where to put the money. It likely wont be much so some of us may go out of pocket with what we can afford to add to what we raise.
Imagine the block you live on, and the block up from you, and the block down from you. Now imagine it under 40 feet of mud. and it happened in seconds. Awful.

I haven't heard about that, no. It's very good of you and your mates to do that. I hope it goes well.
celticelk wrote:Think it through from my perspective. Nobody else I know is into this music. At all. I come here because while I might not have too much overlap in interest within the genre with other posters, this is the one place where I can feel fairly confident that nobody's gonna give me the stinkeye because I like music that moves more slowly than a sloth on tranquilizers. And when someone says in that supposedly-understanding place that they don't like a particular band (put aside for the moment that Sabbath is historically significant for the development of the genre - I can recognize that without liking their music), the *kindest* responses are a patronizing "don't worry, you'll grow into it" (as if my ears at 40 are somehow not yet mature), and range from there down to basically "there's something wrong with you." How would you feel, if you were me?
I have to agree. Although I doubt anyone here is doing it, I'm used to people outside of this little forum hiding their own discretions behind the veil of a joke. It's very patronizing, passive-aggressive and I don't like it. So I can totally see where you are coming from. There is nothing worse than some pretentious little shit spouting out about the origins of rock and how everyone should idolise their idols. However, although I know the 'oldies' better than those who came in the last year and since we migrated to ilovefuzz, I can say without a doubt that the people I know really are joking. There is no malice and judgement behind it at all. None. It's not like a shit comedian ripping off Christians or Politicians and saying "oh, it's a joke", when we all know well he or she detests them and relishes the opportunity to spread such enmity and garner new equally dip-shitted fans. There is no deeper meaning behind it. It's just friends teasing each other. I just think the distinction between here and the outside world is sometimes blurred, and that can make things bitterly confusing. I can tell you I'm personally not like that, and I know people like Ancient Astronaught, pelliott, conky and samzadgan are not like that either.

I can be a complete asshole. I've made multiple grown men cry just by yelling at them and tearing down what they were doing. At the time it was kind of in the job description. Nowadays I actively try to be a nicer better person, but it's easy to slip into Infantry Staff Sgt. mode.
Celticelk, I think I can speak for everyone when I say you are a welcome and valued member f the community here, regardless of how wrong you are about Sabbath
For me, it's 95% of the bands that just do death metal style vocals. if they do it to a certain pitch and that pitch changes to form a melody within the guttural growling, I can deal with it, but when its mnotone "BWuhhhhhh Ouuhhhhhh Deauhhhhhh" nonstop, I can't take it. ruins some otherwise awesome music for me and I should really get over it, but it just seems like they got to the vocal parts and said "fuck it, just make noises" Live is a different matter, I can dig a lot of those bands live performances, perhaps because the vocs are not so out front. Lesbian is a good example of that. LOVE them live. Bought the album after the first time I saw em. Tried listening to it once. just once. I know a TON of people on here are going to have their favorite bands, or their personal bands doing exactly that, and fine! More power to em! I'm glad there is such musical diversity here.
Also don't dig Converge. Left the show after 3 songs.

Can't stand "guh guh guh" singing. It doesn't sound real and doesn't strike me.
