I'm sorry, but after actually reading some of the things from that search it really just comes down to preference. 6550's will have higher headroom and more low end than a 6L6 or EL34.

Something I'll probably also never do. How depressing. I'm enthusiastic about the Hovercraft Falcon though. There was a Laney AOR II 100 for 400 on cl earlier but it's gone now.
