Nah, I've got the Black Forest in front of it. It stays pretty clean on its own. I imagine with a retube it will get a little bit dirtier. I haven't pulled the preamp tubes yet but the guy I got it off of said it was all JJs.

Holy fuck, I couldn't begin to imagine what kind of car stereo rigs you have/had.

my car stereos are pretty damn modest. I like to run matching component sets, 2 4 channel amps and at least 2 12s in a properly built / tuned box. I can usually get FLAT down to 20hz in a car. im much more into mobile hifi then just outbassing everyone. but at the moment im in a single cab fucking tiny Dakota so all I have is 1 comp set and 2 8s

someday ill get a van and have room for a modest car stereo and my not so modest rig

I run Tung Sols in my Soldano and love them but that is just the preamp section. I runn Sovtek 5881 but next time I retube I'm gonna try out Tung Sols all around.

2 12's done right is more than plenty unless you are just focused on db. I had all bose stuff in my Camaro with one JL 12 in a box that angled toward the interior. Everything was balanced and clear and my shit would carry for like a mile. Plus, since I didn't just build a small box and cram two of those square kickers under the seat of my truck like all the redneck kids did, I could drown them completely out with volume to spare. One of those kids ended up buying my sub/box/amp because of that

After being obsessed with the flanging in the Uncle Acid albums, I impulse bought'd an old MIJ Arion. I had one a few years ago and sold it for no real reason. This one is just as thick and syrupy as I remember. Plus it's pretty much impossible to get the Van Halen jet swooshys, which is nice. And you can get some really clangy fixed filter tones by turning the rate all the way off. The only problem is it causes a huge volume boost when any dirt is on in front of it. Need to try it pre dirt and see if the same thing happens. Glad to have some flange back.

A deep, nasty fuzz like an FZ-2 into a flanger set for slow and deep is one of my all-time favorite doom sounds.

I just wish someone would make a SuperFuzz style pedal that had better tone like the Wattson or an actual SuperFuzz but more volume than those (the mid scoop always sounds like a volume drop) and with a bit more deep bass like an FZ-2 only tuned a bit lower.
