well shit at that price.... snag it and fix it. I bet it's a fuse
the 1200s has a mid boost switch that REALLY adds a bunch. Depending on the cab I'm using it with it can be awesome or to much. when I was using it with the 4x12 folded horn cab, I had it on and rolled back the contour knob. I'm using the verellen on that cab now and have the sunn on a normal 4x12 and I liked it better off and with the contour up a bit from where it was. Very versatile and quite punchy. I'd say get a 1200s but as it sounds right up your alley, but I don't think many were made. don't see them come up often for sure. I'd bet the 2000s would be as good if not better for bass, and I'm pretty sure the differences are minimal and you could mod it to 1200s specs if you wanted the mids over the low end.

It sounds good on clean, really good on clean, and you can hear the phase quiet well. But when I hit it with the dirt it gets that sort of gushy almost underwater type sound with its wobbles. Fuck, that description might be awful but when playing some fast chords thrown together I liked how it changed it. And some big, sustained chords sounded pretty good, too.
But now I feel like I need a Small Stone to compare it to. I know Summit has one.... Anybody have any volume drop issues with their Small Stone?
Yeah summit does. If you leave r28 in tact its more pronounced for heavy dirt, without it, it gets kinda lost. Puttin on a switch would be bossco.
Have you guys seen this yet? My inner 14 year old self really wants to like this as Nailbomb and Sepultura were two of my favorite bands back then but really... the parts are bigger than the whole of this "supergroup". This sucks from what i hear so far. I'm waiting on the rest of the album, but I'm not expecting it to be any better than these two songs.
I really wanted to like that. Needs more Max.

ill let you know exactly what the deal is tomorrow ill try the v4 and black rusky side by side see if they both got it it does have issues
I want a vibe. Hardcore. My mate put me onto the Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe today, which I was not so hot on previously, but after some real research, had to concede is probably what I really should gun for, as far as price and playing well with dirt and basic features go. Dan, was it you that had the Depths? I can't remember, sorry guys. Whoever was vibe-enabled, do you run a volume/clean boost before or after to help keep it consistently thick?

i really wish they'd play michigan again. they love the dudes in cloud rat but their tours seldom come here. i bonked out hard when they played saginaw with wolves in the throne room. really kicking my ass for that. would have been a sick show.

thanks for the heads up. i've left it in so far and been happy with the sound so I haven't popped it out yet. I think I'll go the switch route if I do end up modding it. Wish I had a doom bro locally who had one so I could test it out. NONE OF MY FRIENDS LOVE GEAR LIKE WE DO.

If they are the same price then it sounds like the Marshall is a deal or the Carvin is overpriced. I would personally go for the Carvin since the cleans are supposed to be quite nice on them and I've heard they reasonably do well at lower volumes.
The Carvin would be coming cross-country, and the Marshall is pick-up-distance, so there's the price equalizer. Debating how much I want to dig another debt trench right now....

chillerthanmost wrote:Dude, thanks so much for the volume comparison. I never get replies like that when I ask shit. Good for perspective. The one thing I remember about my 200s is that the mids were lacking. Lots of bass and lots of highs but it was never thick. Specially compared to my YBA-3. But the 2000s has a contour knob that's supposed to act like mids, which I'm hoping someone can chime in and confirm.
I'll probably always get luckier finding a v4 for much cheaper than I'll ever find a 2000s, but who knows, I'm patient enough to find out. There's actually a V4 locally for $350 that "needs a new power switch" ....I'm having a hard time not hopping on that.
Remember when I posted awhile back that my guitarist snagged a 2000s for $150? He's selling it. It needs new tubes (some are missing) and cleaning up. I haven't laid eyes on it other than pictures. Once he got the AOR in he fell in love with it and decided to sell the Sunn to free up cash for a drum kit since we kicked our drummer out. If you're interested I can put you in touch with him.
Dude's a major spazz. He wants a VTM 120 one minute, then a drum kit, and then it cycles. That post was before we kicked our drummer out though. But I'm sure you can tempt him with trades that aren't drum related.

I don't have much to trade just wanted to make sure he'd be interested in selling it outright. I might... be verrrrrrry interested.
