Yeah, I've got a strange relationship with overdrives. I never really liked the Hotcake (which I think is more of a distortion anyway), but the Colorsound Overdriver circuit is something different altogether. I've always wanted to try that ThoBak, but the price is a little steep for me.

I think the hotcake works best as a really coloured boost with some hair on it. It was great with my laney vc30 but is too dark for my other amps. Still sounds great, just can't get it bright enough.

Yeah, it's kind of limited. If you like what it does, it's fine. I've just never found a use for it within my set ups. I've got an older one with the "Mid Lift" switch and only really like it when the lift is engaged. I'm thinking about selling it or something. IDK.

Since it's almost the last day of the year I decided to tear everything apart and build it all up again, starting with a newly cut/stained baseboard in my live-in case. Now to build risers/shelves/cables/etc...

so… is that a Analogman Bi-Comp? I am thinking about a mini Bi-Comp thats on sale locally now. I currently have an MXR Custom Comp, and really i use it not so much for squishing but more for sustain and thickness. I don't dislike the Custom Comp…but having two in one is very tempting. Also, the Custom comp is really quiet, how is the Bi-Comp on the noise side of things?

Edit: ignore me…just made the picture bigger and noticed its not a Bi-Comp..
