The discussion of high school made me realize that I have less than a year left with my undergrad degree, and honestly, no ostensible plans for what to do after. I have no idea what job I can get with a BA in Chemistry. Or, if I want to go to grad school. Or anything, for that matter. Thing is, I'm not too worried. But it's a scary thought that I'm gonna like...graduate.

I know that feel man. Sadly my professors told me time and time again that I would have no problems getting a design job straight out of college. I applied a decent amount when I got out, but as time went on I just kind of felt a little bit of defeat. Granted, I did have a lot going on after graduating (moving out, moving in with my now wife, getting married). But looking back on it, all I can tell you is to start looking and applying now. I regret not looking/applying to jobs before I graduated. If you can, get an internship, even if it's like once a week at a lab or something. All the people who I graduated with that had internships are now happy employed with CAREERS at those internships. Also, networking. Start now if you haven't already. This may all be completely different for a science field since I went for design, but I still think like most of the stuff I listed could apply!

I feel like a geezer at 25. I wanted "the college experience", but it just didn't work out that way. I still feel extremely positive whenever I'm on a college campus though.

I'm only 2 years behind you duder haha. As far as the college experience goes, I'm glad I definitely was on a campus that was connected to society as opposed to one that was self sustaining. I don't think I could have kept my sanity if it was the latter.

I've been working at a lab for about a year and a half now, so I'm already kinda doing that. And if I were to go to grad school, I'd be getting my masters in that same lab. But yeah. it's rough sometimes.

on a different note, I really hope this guy on CL emails me back.

In Utah there's this thing called a "move-over" law. Apparently they're fairly common, but the law's pretty new here. What it amounts to is if there's a cop on the side of the road with his lights on, you have to to move to the other lane to pass him. I didn't so be gave me a ticket, and I paid it.

However, this is not the end of this ticket. Apparently part of the law is I have to attend a 4-hour defensive driving course too. So now I'm about to waste my day with a bunch of wannabe truckers learning about drivers safety

my cat was supposed to be shipped to me today, but Delta refused the shipment because the carrier has a door in the roof. so now i'm out 50 bucks for the carrier and don't get to see Lulu for probably another week. i hate this planet.

I thought that was just, like, something you do. Somewhere between courtesy and safety, not an actual law.

Plus you got to figure he either must just finished writing the previous ticket. Otherwise why would he just suddenly let the other person go to Chase you down? Bad luck there, bro.

There's nothing for 80 miles on that part of the freeway; no trees, signs, buildings, hills, or curves. It's a flat stretch of road for two hours and the only thing he could do was wait on the side of the road for someone to break the law. I wasn't speeding or tailgating, and he had no one pulled over. He just had his lights on and I passed him without moving over; didn't know it was agains the law :idk: He was a real ass about it though.
"Why didn't you move over?"
"I don't know. Was I supposed to officer?"
"Yup, it's posted all over the highway."
I made sure to look after that and nowhere in the upper 200 miles of the state is it posted (I seriously doubt that it's posted anywhere in Utah). Asshole

It's a rough night.

I want to just drink myself to sleep but perversely I won't let myself because I had a good workout today and I don't want to ruin it.
