Gibson Grabber

I am looking for a Gibson Grabber, old one, but I was curious how does it sound, I can only find crap videos on youtube.. And what does it sound like? Maybe if it's easy: compared to a Fender Precision, that I am rocking now for the most time..

Oh by the way, it is one with the slide-pickup..

Thick, thick, thick..... P-bass has more bite, grabber has more pure low end. Comparing a p-bass to a grabber is like comparing slap bass to Dub reggae....

Then he wasn't a bass player, he was a stage prop

I only use the treble knob a bit on my amp since I have fuzz and other dirty stuff..

I own a 75 grabber and a warmoth jd with nordstrand pj pickup. Maybe the grabber pickup sounds more like a quarter pounder but my p has more lows and snap.but the grabber isslightly hotter and had a smooth but throaty midrange.the grabber I've named rocky because it's the punchiest bass I've played.it's a very bright sounding bass even with flats.

Tone aside it's the most comfortable bass I've ever played.love the feel of it.best $ 600 I've spent

I had a Grabber years ago, definately had a mudbucker-ish sound to the pickup and the tone didn't vary much by sliding it from the neck to bridge position. But if you are looking for a thick and deep sound, it is a solid bass.

I love my Grabber. It's got this zingy, clangy, yet full-humbuckery tone that I've never been able to get a facsimilie of ever with any other bass. Can't even get close with my G&L L-1000, another single humbucker, maple neck bass. ALSO, It's HUUUUUUUGE! Way big, which is AWESOME. And, the neck is really quite nice, though most people that try mine say it's really big. I think I'm too busy just playing it to notice the neck profile. Basically, the way I feel about my Grabber is if there was the perfect cross between a Fender and a Gibson and a blunt weapon.

And, yes, I have nearly savagely beaten someone with my Grabber. The bass would have been fine.

I made my ol' bass player get one and he and I loved it very much. My favorite bass tone.

I have a '75 Grabber G3. It's the one with 3 single coil pickups.
3-way switching, every position is humbucking.

It's got great tones...far from mudbucker. Lots of top and bottom.

I used to have a Ripper too. It was a better made instrument, but the tones leaned a little more toward mud, but sounded great with a pick. I chose between the two and kept the G3 for its versatility.

They sound good.

Dunno if I'd switch out a P-bass for one, but they'd be great complements in a quiver.

Oh, and depending on what you're used to, you might think they're heavy.
