I've got serious Jaguar GAS. I could never justify big money on a guitar since I'm just a bedroom player these days, but there's a B-stock Squier Classic Vibe in surf green for a cut price that I keep hovering over.
The only thing stopping me is hearing about all the stuff people have had to do to theirs to make it playable. Anyone got one?

I have one. I had it set up and changed out the pickups to Pure Vintage Jaguar pick ups, and I quite like it.More_Divebombs wrote:I've got serious Jaguar GAS. Like BM said, nothing a good set-up & fresh pickups could solve, perhaps some shielding of the controls/etc., but IMHO the Squiers on the whole have been great quality for teh bucks. Even the Affinity Mustangs are tempting these daysMore_Divebombs wrote:I've got serious Jaguar GAS. Squier Affinity line has traditionally been the lowest tiered priced of all, with usually one Strat and one Tele that listed for $149 & were also paired in kits with a tiny amp ($199 total), but over the past few years it's expanded to include mostly hard tailed variety of all the Fender models, still around the $240 mark.
Ironically, the old Teles & Strats boasted Indonesian made necks (which were undressed/unfinished on the back, and to most, more comfortable than the glossy necks that used to be so prevalent), but as we have slid into satin finishes for all territories (or whatever they call the less-undercoated necks these days), most Affinity models seem like a balance between what people actually want vs. what they are willing to pay, which is universally great!
Also, that racing stripe/colorway on the Mustang is new to me (at least for a Squier), but the Classic Vibe series further down the line has been more adventurous due to their inherent price point (orange!).

One of my KRK 5 (G2) monitors blew a cap and got the buzz, so I upgraded to a pair of Classic 7s. Traded the busted one and its other half on craigslist for an old red noname strat that needs new hardware, so that's in progress now, just waiting on an Anlico SSH pickguard and some strings. Also replaced some more old favorite pedals, MXR Fullbore Metal, Space, and Pitchfactor. Happy Haulidays!

It’s the annual “I’m telling myself I’m not buying gear in 2023” spree.
Snagged one of these:
Also GASsing for Mattoverse Air Trash, OBNE Signal Blender and Korg SQ1 that I MUST acquire before the stroke of midnight on Dec 31st, because I am most definitely not buying any new gear in 2023.

Ooh pretty, what color hardware are you planning for it? I know 99% of all the pink paisley teles I've ever seen had a clear guard and chrome or nickel hardware, but I'd love to some black on one.Paul_C wrote:One more last thing . . . *sigh*
I was reminded that I really love pink paisley Telecasters, but rather than buy one (very expensive) I'm putting one together from various sources (Allparts body (very nice) Fender neck (new from ebay) Suhr pickups (s/h) etc.
Still quite expensive but not anywhere as much as a decent used one.

I finished the pink Tele and bought a s/b Player Tele too, here they both are along with my J Mascis and tangerine Classic Vibe.

Just out of view on the right is my only purchase of 2023.
A modded Princeton Reverb.

I am completely dissatisfied with my current set up - functional but not how I have been using it in the last three months. I still have not found the right pedal train for my current set up, so I will most likely get a third board when I am not in a spending freeze.
Also need to get more dongles for my Macbook - the power cable is too short, and its all USB C - I had to break out the old laptop to add a cab profile to my Two notes CAB M
