They ended up adding it in after they were basically finished the pedal, because so many people requested it. Because of that, it’s a “secret” aux function and is only available when you’re in Classic mode.

I might have flipped my CFX v2 and pre-ordered if I knew the freeze function lived on.

I dunno, though. Not feeling particularly inclined to change it out.

Yeah, I mean, if I'd still owned one of the previous versions I'm not 100% sure I would have shelled out for this one. Stereo was a big deal for me, and it does have some super cool functions and options. I guess you just have to weigh the pros vs cons. Seems like Cooper V2 prices have maintained, so you can probably get decent $$ still if you do decide to sell it. :idk:

Stereo is important to me, but it has ceased to be important on my pedalboard—that’s what the rack is for. If I were doing stereo on the floor, I’m sure I would have leaned into the future.

I dunno, one of the weird things is that the v2 is working for me and there won’t be any more, so I don’t want to fuck with it. I only got into a few of the last things Cooper Fx released and I feel like I missed out on some of the prior stuff, so I don’t want to foolishly move on something I like. Maybe my skepticism that an actual VCR simulation wouldn’t be better is unwarranted, but I don’t want to fuck with it.

Yeah, I think if you're happy with it, then probably there are only going to be small differences between it and MKII. CBA should be keeping this in their regular rotation, so down the road if you wanted to try one you probably wouldn't have any problem snagging one, but you're right, there won't be any more of the Cooper, so maybe hang onto it?

I bought something weird and potentially stupid. I’m thinking it could be fun to record audio with, or I could use it to convert different types of analog signals into something usable as cv modulation source (hopefully with minimal conversion). It also records onto special digital data, s-video VHS tapes. So, I also picked up some tapes. If I can get it to work, I’ll make a review showing off what I’ve gotten it to do. Worst case scenario, I have something that looks like it belongs in a 90’s submarine movie about aliens.

I have no idea what industry it was originally designed for. From what I’ve been able to figure out online it’s just good at recording/replicating signals. I wasn’t able to find anybody specifically using it for music, but I found a NASA article talking about how it was used to record vibrations and noises during cockpit testing. There was also another article talking about using it to record bird song. So, I’m really excited to see what I can make it do. I’m really hoping the cv modulation thing works.

All I’ve done is google it. I was able to find a fairly comprehensive data sheet on it, but I couldn’t find anything from an online community. I found a german youtube video of someone showing theirs off, but it looked like they were just demonstrating that it functioned for an eBay listing. I was hoping I could find a manual, but I haven’t had any luck. So, I’m really hoping the VHS tapes I got are the right format.

I found this when I went down a rabbit hole looking at vintage electronics on eBay. I instantly fell in love with it when I saw it, and tried to find something to use it for. One of the sellers dropped the price drastically. So, I picked it up.

Wow, at first I thought that was a screenshot from Fallout 2, which is to say it looks like an amazing piece of gear!

Oh wow, that Metrum looks like a BEAST.

That picture does not capture the depth of the unit.

Thank you for making me feel sane, good luck with the experiments!!
