Hit up a local guy for an unexpected score the other day, an Ensoniq SQ1! But not only that, when I showed up to get it he threw in an Alesis Midiverb II and an Ibanez DM500 for free! Very cool dude.

The Ensoniq seems to work perfectly but for a lazy key that I don't think I'll fix, and a missing ROM card that might show up later. I also will probably have to replace the battery soon. Got the low battery warning on startup once, but not on recent power-ups. Preset sounds are beautiful, haven't tried the deeper editing. Recorded a layered chord sequence, but lost or overwrote it, so the interface will take some getting used to.

Ibanez DM500 sounds actually broken in kind of a good way. Not sure if someone has circuit bent it or what (all the top lid screws are missing and there's an extra? cap on the back of one board) but the repeats sound super bit-crushed and nasty. The modulation speed and depth don't really do much, instead it does that seasick DML thing randomly, at its own will. Otherwise the wet, dry, time and feedback knobs work normally. Strange unit but I like it. The Midiverb has a mini-jack power input and I don't have that, so haven't tried it yet, but looks to be in good condition.

I have gotten a bunch of stuff since I last shared a haul, but I also joined the Zoia club recently from a trade. I'm still digging in...very different from Beebo while not being all that different.

Curious to hear your thoughts at this point now that you have several of each. Which do you use for what over the other and why? I'm finding that with the Beebo, I'm only really interested in playing with the euro rack stuff and looper and all the awesome modules over using it as an effects box. Zoia is still too new to me, but I'm feeling like this is more of an effects box and / or synth.

I use them all for similar things, to turn whatever goes in into something interesting/weird.

What's changed recently is the purchase of the CB Habit, which has resulted in me moving things from the end of the two chains to in front of the Habit.

If there were Habits available then I may well have bought one of those instead (and may still do next time they become available) but without a doubt I can get a lot more of what I want from a Zoia.

So the set up once the Zoia arrives will be:

Beebo - something (currently a Hedra) - Zoia - Habit - Mood - Blooper - Fabrikat - Ghost Fax - EchoSystem (splitting things right and left with a Beebo followed by a Zoia on each side).

It's all fabulously pointless ;) but I'm up to 169 albums in 3 years and don't plan to stop anytime soon :)

i really enjoy the Beebo, and loopler especially, but i think i might get a Zoia solely because Andre LaFosse is building his own craywoendrfll looper patch on it :snax: :snax: :snax:

I'm not dropping $2,000 a piece on reverb units, but I am fantasizing about using all four in parallel.

I had a amusing story about a crazed and rampaging ups driver not delivering my bass for 3 days "because" and hd to go to the depot to pick it up from equally confused UPS people as to why.. but ILF ate my post..

Bass rocks, just needed a truss tweak and new strings [flatwounds] and a lot of cleaning.. it even came with a case that I didn't know was coming
thing sounds full beastmode, I don't think I'll need to mod anything!
And the neck! I WUV carvin necks!

6 string bass club! :excellent:
I'd really like to try a carvin, they have some awesome looking guitars too!

Is the neck like super slim in terms of depth?
I was shocked when I received my meridian six string bass about how slim and comfy it was.

It is, I’d say as thin front to back as old Ibanez soundgears (I’ve own both sr 6string neck shapes) but the shape is faster…
It’s really what I wanted, I love my 7string but I wanted something you could play with a more punk rock attitude and not have it stress my hand in a non sitting playing position..

Also though after playing a bunch I think I’m going to swap the preamp, the controls don’t quite have the separation I like and I hate blend controls.. I have a bartolini harness sitting around that would work, I just need to change the stacked bass/treble control for 2 individual pots so all the hole are filled…

Ended up with a Habit in my crazy trade push as well...there's another that I've only started to scratch the surface with.

Zoom R20's are on sale for $300 from $450 so I bought one. A couple months ago I was thinking about a replacement for my R16, which works but is in rough shape--sticking buttons, analog outputs developed a high pitched whine, things of this nature. I'm not super thrilled that the R20 doesn't have all combi inputs like the R16 does, but after frequent and relentless avoidance of making music repatching of my sound hovel, I've learned that this won't be a real issue. I'll be grateful to open up a project file and be able to see what kind of audio is in there at a glance, since I never remember, but I hope the touchscreen isn't too much a distraction. The broad editing tools will probably come in handy, though, and the workflow appears less tedious than a computer. I'm hoping it's just enough computer to be a good writing/arranging tool. Some kind of, okay computer, you might say.

I went to a guitar shop I'd never been to in Iowa. Custom Shop Fenders along a whole wall, fantastic vintage stuff, and the amp I've dreamt of since high school (Fender Super Six). I ended up buying a Walrus Audio Lore.
Got home, went to my usual guitar store, and they basically threw a Line 6 DL4 into my arms for $110.
I need a pedal board for all my big pedz.
My force of habit, I am an insect
I have to confess I'm proud as hell of that fact

No sign of any Chase Bliss Habits for sale in the UK so as I had the urge to buy something I ended up getting a s/h Zoia (#3) to add to the mix.

That arrived yesterday and today I got an email saying a UK shop had new Habits in stock . . . *sigh*

So next week should see the final addition for this year, other than the Generation Loss II which I preordered and will see sometime in November (hopefully).

Finally... FINALLY found an LPB-2ube for reasonable price! Sounds pretty killer and feels very "natural" under the fingers, could use some EQ control (especially to tame the lows when the gain goes up), but I guess that's what the Tube EQ is for. Just need the English Muff'n now to complete the set.
