And then what happens when you decide it is $400 fun and then you realize it actually costs $500?
I really dont know the difference between 400-500 fun

In reality I could pick it up with out it affecting me budget wise, my issue is space. I can only fit enough gear to go under a crawl space in my house - so once I hit my limit I have to start letting go of things.

We agreed to a trade: the Strat for her Fender Vintera Mustang Bass (SEAFOAM GREEEEEEEEN!!!) and she'd chip in on my replacement Number One. I agreed and we began guitar hunting. I played a Vintera Road Worn 60s Strat, which I really, really liked, but it sold before I could decide on it. I tried a J Mascis Telecaster but decided not to get it. Ultimately, I took home a Fender JA-90 Jim Adkins Telecaster. Set-neck, P-90s, short-scale. As soon as I got home, though, it felt wrong. I never even took it back out of the case and we returned it the next morning.

Sunday, I played every Stratocaster in Omaha. Both Dietze locations, Guitar Center, nothing scratched my itch. We drove to Lincoln. Music Go Round and the first Dietze came up empty. Then, at the second Dietze, the guitar shop guy did what no one else did: he asked me questions. I explained what I do and what I want. He pulled a Fender American Original 60s off the wall, Shell Pink and ready for action. I lost track of time. When my partner came to retrieve me from the practice room, it was already purchased. The perfect Strat for me.
Oh helllllllll yeah!! :success:

I have recently learned this is a good thing. The stuff I own was definitely starting to own me so I started trading things instead of just adding to the pile and I'm super happy to have a bunch of new stuff without spending any new money aside from postage (which ain't cheap these days  ).

Got this one today from Canada, a new small sweet brand: Sounds From The Void!
This is their first offering, the Gorgon Fuzz! A wonderful take on the Roland Beebaa fuzz, with bias control and totally indipendent tone controls for the Standard and Scooped position!
Goes from endoftheworld floody stoned/doom waterfalls up to bonanza gate spaghetti fuzz.

And yes... only after 15minutes playing with it I noticed my unit is nonetheless than Nr.1!!!! :!!!:

So I got the Recording King Tenor in today and she's certainly a bit rough around the edges. Like literally, the frets are pretty sharp. I kind of knew this going into it based on the reviews, but there are a few other pretty disappointing finishing touches that I wasn't really expecting. For instance, they didn't clean up the frets after installing the fret markers; they're literally a different colour than the rest of the frets and there is still saw dust on them. I can maybe forgive not polishing the fretboard, but to not even blow the saw dust off is kind of mind blowing. Also, the intonation of the G string is so off that it's borderline unusable. The strings are also quite a bit lighter than what I would prefer, but that is probably more so my preference as I'd prefer to tune this GDAE (like my Warren Ellis Tenor) and apparently a lot of tenor guitars are tuned CGDA.

Oh well, I knew what I was getting into and it does sound pretty nice, so I can't really complain. I ordered new strings. When those come in I'll take the time to clean up the frets and polish the fretboard and tackle the intonation issues.

In a nutshell:
Grabbed A MAE Civil Math out of curiosity from BST and I absolutely love it. I had low expectations, instead it sounds awesome from Corgan muff walls to garage rock to early grunge vibes.

Finally bought a Halberd V2 and it is totally not what I expected. First time I return a pedal to the seller straight away. Not for me.

Civil Math is pretty incredible. I actually ended up exploring muffs via MAE. I snagged a Blue English which is a super compressed version w some weird parts...a Violet Math proto (made avail on discord to the first handful interested)...and a tall font/green drab. They all exhibit very unique characteristics...but the civil is the prize imo. Tall font is ridiculous as well but a bit of an anomaly due to a small bit of vintage Russian parts.

Highly recommend checking out the Germanium part garden of you get the chance...it's way more of an overdrive than a fuzz but super sweet sounding. Alec is really in his groove at this point imo.

So I love me and my impulsiveness.

Finally traded in my GFI Spectacular Tempest and Freedman BEOD Delux - both of which I snagged not fully researching both pedals. The BEOD deluxe I though was going to be my 9vt one but better, however it didn't work for me and what I am doing so it sat in the pile with a bunch of dirt that is way better and the GFI tempest was kind of bland and not my type of delay.

I went and played with a Blooper, really cool pedal ...... but I dont think I am in the midset for this type of sound and gear ( same way I felt about the tensor)

So what did I pick up?

Boss Waza HM2

Pulled the trigger on a Sarah Lipstate Keeley Loomer. I'd wanted one for years, but getting the Lipstate version was an easy choice.

I have Sarah Lipstate's Digitech TimeBender! Maybe my only piece of gear with famous-guitarist mojo.

I'll be playing it with a guitar I bought from the guy from the SuperSuckers.

I just saw her on an episode of EQD's "show us your junk" - she seems pretty cool! Must have been amazing to play with Iggy Pop - defiantly inspiring as fuck to what she does with her pedal set up

Everyone says the halberd is awesome. I think it sounds uninteresting in demos and when I tried it at a store it wasn't anything special.
However lots of people with good ears recommend it so it could be a gear context thing.
It surely is. In my setup it didn't work at all, at least for the purpose I wanted to use it for. I realize why some people like it so much, but it just not my thing.

Yuh, I remember your extensive Black Math collection  for the Part Garden, I love the standard version for broken fuzz sounds and all that stuff, so I guess the germanium is a bit less harsh?

Boss RC5
RC5 FTW! I snagged a used one some months ago and it's just simple and useful, especially for recording riffs and then compose some arrangements. I wanted to use the EHX 1440 for this but a major problem is that if you record something it is automatically saved in the memory, so the next time you turn it up you can't go back to the original recording unlike on boss units, where you have to click save if you want to save the overdubs.

It was always going to happen and I'm surprised it's taken me this long, but Zoia #3 is on the way.
