Despite my best efforts (and my daughter attempting to spend all my money so I have none left for anything else) I have found something to buy.
A nearly half-price deal on a lightly used Chase Bliss Faves was too good to pass up, so I should be wondering where on earth to put it sometime tomorrow.

The other day I got this new tiny synth from Spain: the Kasser Synth DAFM Genesis.
This is a 4 operator FM synth, based around the Yamaha YM3438 chip, which is the very same used in the old Sega game consoles.
Sounds just glorious and nasty!

Very easy, you have the 4 mini screens to see the different menus and parameters, which you then edit/select with the 2 encoders.coldbrightsunlight wrote:Very cool! How is it to program?gila_crisis wrote:The other day I got this new tiny synth from Spain: the Kasser Synth DAFM Genesis.

To same new preset you have to insert an SD card, otherwise at each turn off it'll reset back to factory standard (but already the factory presets are bloody good!).

DL4 mkii should be shipping out this month. Preordered in the spring but supply chain issues fucked with my preorder. Shop I ordered from has been good about updates tho. So thats nice at least.

Re: Gasalcoholics anonymous? whoever said this was a help gr
PS-5 Super Shifter arrived today! Used ofc but very clean and at half the usual going price.
Just hooked up and tested it now, it works as it should I think but a few things confuse me: Not stoked about how the balance knob works, I'd like to be able to have a dry output B and full wet on A, instead both outputs are the same and it doesn't really make a difference past 2 o'clock? There's also a general volume drop with the Pitch and Harmonist modes. The T-arm and Flutter is cool. [edited bc I figured it out a little more.]
So, no-brainer cheapo purchase but not entirely what I needed output- and user-friendliness-wise. Sounds amazing with other pedals downstream in stereo tho, like in parallel into HM-2 and BSRI SFG.

T-arm and flutter don't have a stereo effect, so the output channels in those modes will be identical. If I remember right the other modes are stereo, and that you can get a wet/dry stereo output, but somehow the balance knob still effects the output, but I can't remember how.
That thing is cool, I miss the detune and pitch shift modes on it.

Yeah, played with it some more and consulted the manual, seems you're right. I think only the Harmonist has a dry out, while the Pitch shifter is on both channels as well? The balance knob in Pitch/Harmonist for some weird reason goes from no signal (possibly only on output A, w dry still in output B) to 50/50 in the middle and full wet soon after that it seems. Maxing the balance doesn't make things much wetter to my ears. But the -1 octave Harmonist setting I'm at rn works well. That's why I perceived a volume drop as well, at higher pitches it's plenty loud. I'm p high tbf.

Been a minuet!
Got my new laptop - opted to go for the macbook air M1 and got it this weekend instead of waiting for the new M2 airs to come out. For what I am trying to do this will be plenty power - its a really nice refreshing upgrade from my budget gaming computer which I will used to check email / do stuff for work. Really happy now that my personal and work stuff is on two separate machines - been messing with garage band / reaper - I will buy logic pro however this not a super high priority item ( it would be nice to have it and just start on it)
Been playing almost every week, really proud of that - still just a basic power cord dad jammer but I am getting a little better.
I guess you could call this a gear purchase and I started taking lessons from Brett Vaughn Recitrfig https://www.brettvaughn.com/ - after getting hopelessly lost in three music courses ( Bernerth, Beto , and a online bass corse) I really need someone to guide me in playing. Stellar human and lessons are amazing. I might be shelling out a lot of money for it but its totally worth it.
Also purging pedals - I have too many :P

My M1 Mac Mini is the shit - I'm sure the M2 is awesomer, but an M1 will do you well! Logic is great. Frustrating to learn though...
