i mean, i bow to few men in my adulation of Jerry Garcia, but those are fucking atrocious. dude could at least have done some badass bat-wing pickguards like John Cippolina. fun fact: Cippolina did all the customization on his SGs at a time when the typical SF psych guitarist knew nothing more about guitar construction than which knobs were which.

And that intonation looks pretty fuckin' odd to me too. Also, isnt there some story of AC/DC's years in England and Angus having an L6S and having someone cut the upper bout to make it look more like an SG?
intonation lulz are a personal selfcare item when i feel the need to reverb browse
but it's a little less odd when you track the overall reversal job
still a little extreme tho and was duder using a wound G?
def like the looks better on Angus (might be addition by subtraction b/c that pickguard really ain't workin' for me, especially given the reverse job)
"In a moment of unparalleled genius, Noel Parachute headed off this potential disaster by unplugging the microphone."
i'm less concerned about the intonation than i am about the pole spacing on that neck pickup. the E strings must sound like they're being broadcast by Radio Albania.

And it seems they haven't learned any more since then!
imagine finding out your son is your daughter & she's into noise music
Garcia got hip as his career went on and had many modifications to his Stratocaster before going over to the Doug Irwin guitars--he collaborated with his roadie, Steve Parish, on the work--but the other guys were 100% stock all the way other than James Gurley of Big Brother.
