I do have a question about looping. Right now I am putting a boss rc1 through it’s paces, it’s first in the chain followed by my Disiaster transport compressor then dirt. My goal is to make a loop with delay and then switch to a dirty tone that had no delay. I thought it would be as simple as turning the delay off but the RC1 doesn't record the loop with the effect. I am going to do some digging in how to do this ... but do I need a ls2 or a Swiss things to acccomplish something like this ?

seems like the simple answer would be to run a delay into the RC-1. the looper can only record what's in front of it. that does raise the question of having to stomp twice simultaneously to switch, though. a effects-loop box like the Fairfield Operator would let you switch the delay and looper in and out.

it seems kind of self-limiting to run the looper first, though. i like to be able to run a signal with everything into the looper, and run it last. a day without being able to fade in fuzz drones with the volume pedal and loop them is like a day without sunshine. and if you're a true bypass nerd, the buffer in Boss pedals could be an issue.

Likewise, dirt after looper dirties up your clean toned loops. Which may also be something you want to do. More pedals, more options.

I wouldn’t sweat simultaneous activation of looper record and whatever effect you want to capture unless you find it’s essential for the timing of something that you want to pull off. If, say, your delay is active when you open the looper’s buffer, that pass should be good. With delay as the pre-looper effect this may be trickier than dirt as you will probably want no repeats of notes played before the passage you’re capturing. Or maybe you do—practice some stuff, try some ideas out, listen, and explore some more.

Could give a shit about the trv bypass as this is my little boat and I can do what I want (oh the freedom of not being in a band)

Thank you dubs! When I do get a chance I am going to un plug and do some order switching. Even though I am short on patch cables I can use some of the ancient instrument cables that I have lying around.

Awesome ideas fission I will report back

I wanted an amp that excels in JG kind of cleans and one that excels for more stoner riffs so I'll switch between both with an ABY and I/O and use the quilter as a power amp and backup/super portable alternative.

At first I wanted to get a mesa tube power amp or at least a duncan powerstage but it started to get expensive so I figured the quilter will do the job atleast for now.

It will all fit in my gator 4u rack bag making the whole thing very easy to haul around.

So excited to try it when its completed ! :yay:
Having a huge tube poweramp for the beta would be silly anyways! It's designed to already sound like powertubes. The quilter is probably awesome for it

incoming: Ibanez PM7, Fender MTG Tube Tremolo. this fills out/revises my previous board layout.

Ibanez PM7 is plenty fun!

Despite some horror stories found online about the EHX Tri Parallel Mixer (a few units have started behaving super weirdly over time apparently), I still pulled the trigger on one.

I mean if VFE Klein Bottles had not been unobtainable, I would have opted for one but here we are... So fingers crossed!

So Goroth is being an absolute unit and sending me a Bitquest all the way from the land of swiss cheese and black metal. :yay:

Fuck me I need that power supply, if timing works out well I could have it purchased and landed before the Bitquest makes it state side. The patch cables I ordered from Pitbull should be here this week, I will have only one day to jam out / re-route because of work and family stuff. I am regretting not ordering two packages because I don't think the 3 additional cables will be enough.

you can never have enough cables. even with my collection i'm running short of cables between 6" and 18" for the latest pedalboard due to running cables under the board frame. and good luck trying to find non-standard lengths in Charlottesville, which has two guitar shops of middling quality. i don't want to drive all the way to Richmond to go to Sam Ash.

I am spoiled living here in Portland Oregon because we have a TON of rad guitar shops that are close too each other. Centaur, Old Town, Thunder road, ect. - Since I fucking hate Guitar Center and will never EVER shop there I have been buying my staple stuff from Pitbull Audio on Reverb if its not available locally. Starting back up, by mistake I ordered Ernie Ball - Flat guitar patch cables - they are awesome and I want the entire board to have them.

i miss living in the bay Area so much. if you can't find it at one of the three Starving Musician locations, it's probably at Guitar Showcase in San Jose (sigh).

A JPTR FX Double Jive I had on my watchlist sent me a discount offer so I decided to give it a shot.

At reasonable settings it's fine so far, nothing mindblowing. But with both sides cranked on gain and the left cranked on volume, it sounds like it's about to explode. Hit a power chord and the compression caves in completely for a second and then slowly releases. Not sure how that's going to be useful but me like.

both new pedals in on Thursday :!!!:

i'm really jazzed to have a phaser and tremolo that will do the things i want them to do. i've always under-used phasing because i find most phasers overly polite, but the PM7 seems nice and smeary. and a tremolo that can do the Vox skippy squarewave with waveform adjustment for radar blips is something i've always wanted. this should sort my basic board, though i still need a FZ-2 and perhaps an Ampeg Scrambler, and stuff for the stunt board like the Pladask Fabrikat and the Hotone acoustic guitar simulator which is by far the best i've heard. i've still never owned a Fuzz Face, either.
