One time I was riding in my then-girlfriend's car and we started hearing a grinding sound.
"eh...it'll be ok, just keep going."
About 5 minutes later, we heard some really odd sounds from the engine bay and decided to pull into a parking lot. The serpentine belt had shredded itself apart. I've never seen one do that. Had to clean the stretched/melted rubber off of the pulley grooves with a toothbrush before installing a new belt.

Thankfully yes.

I had just changed oil, and decided not to adjust my valves (as I've done it somewhat recently).. I must have pulled the bail down while lost in thought and not reinstalled it.

I noticed a large drips worth under the car at the destination (roughly 11 miles) and my oil light started flickering on corners. Bought some more oil to top it up and when I got home I saw one of my valve covers sitting on the side of the road at my driveway. Oil level measured once the car had cooled was *at* minimum, so, aside from spraying a quart of oil on the road I don't think I did any damage.

No brain Monday.

Saw one of those last night...totally agree.

Talked to my dad about the Willy's Jeepster wagon...it's a 1958. Got to hang around it and stuff...it's awesome and I think it's going to be mine. It's got a sbc in it already (might do something different. Told him it has to stay in his shop in WA for a few years. Pretty cool.

After several years of propping the hood of the Grand Marquis up with a 2x2, I got a pair of lift supports to replace the dead ones.
Oh man...why did I wait so long? It's so much easier now, and no more chance of booping the stick and getting a broken neck.
Also replaced the busted corner lamp assembly so it may finally pass inspection!

Plus, new bright headlights in it and the beater Corolla.

It's been ages since I've posted in here, I picked up a mk2 golf about six months ago. I bought it as a still fun, but more practical replacement to my Miata. I was daily driving the golf to work for a few months, but switched back to mostly driving my Xterra again due to a combination of some minor issues with the golf and the weather. Right now the golf is running like shit, I'm planning on replacing the valve cover gasket, plugs, and plug wires in the next couple of weeks and hoping that solves the problem. The car's a total piece of shit; slow, low and loud, but I've grown pretty fond of it. If I keep it around long term I'd love to VR6 swap it.

I finally got my stupid windshield washing system in order. I had to modify the motor they sent because it was the wrong one, but it was also cheap.
Pro: it works and doesn't leak.
Con: one sprayer sprays the bottom of the windshield and one sprays the roof of the car.
Fuck yeah.

Good idea, but they appear to be fixed in place. Might just grab some from the junk yard next time.

Toyota Carolla, I would watch a YouTube video on the tail light module. It's in one of the rear quarter panels behind the dampening material in the trunk if memory serves. It's not too hard to replace.
