I always think it's one of the coolest things ever when a song opens with the sound of rainfall, an/or thunder. I think it may be why "Riders on the Storm" is one of my favourite Doors songs. It's defintely a sound that's pleasing to the ear.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.
