the thing is, he's already been to rehab. cost him a shitload of money and it was like being in prison. I know he's been looking for a better one for a bit, but lately his family has been treating him like a piece of shit and its wearing him thin. I offered to take him to a mental hospital, no earfulls, but he's reluctant. I even straight up offered to take him to a damn celebrity rehab kind of place and I'll pay for it till the day I die but he's not having it. I'm going to try find a legit place and detail the whole plan to him but even then, I KNOW he just wants to die. I keep telling him life can prevail, he a so pessimistic. it's like talking to a brick wall. its like the only person that can help is him. I just want to be there for him. I don't wantmy best friend to die. I think an intervention situation would just backfire unless we had a bad ass plan in place. he's not a junkie. been on methadone for a while now (once a day vs multiple heroin shots a day) and I think that's what really fucked him. it's going to be be long time before he'll feel "normal' again and I know it terrifies him to his core.I had a feeling he was going to try again today. I'm not ready for it. I hope he isn't either and something happens. I'm tired of thinking about my best friend killing himself..I can only imagine what's going through his head

Been in this situation before with an ex, who was utterly despondent and wanted nothing more than to die. Took a lot of time, lost a lot of sleep and felt pretty terrible. It feels really wrong to "force" someone to live when they're so sure, and I guess if you can trust that whatever they have going on will pass, it's worth making the decision for them, albeit delicately. Just try to be present more than anything, be around, be as consistent as you can be, let time do what it does, but it sounds like you're handling it really well: respecting them, understanding their reasoning, offering help without imposing. Nothing really makes any of it easier, I remember the most important thing for me in that situation was just eating properly and trying to get her to eat as properly as possible. Really small thing seemingly but it really sticks out as something that made a difference, I guess the normalcy of it is so disparate from suicidal thoughts that it can be pretty grounding. Hope you both get some sleep whenever you can...

thanks buddies..apparently he tried shooting up 5gs of dope. ended up checking into a mental hospital and is going to rehab after. he's getting help. so thankful.

Nah seriously I reached the point yesterday where I figured I can't do this. So I'm going to live with extreme fidelity to what I know is ethical and right. Made three new enemies yesterday, all in high places. At this rate I'll be gone in three months or I'll be the president in a year. But I'll be able to sleep either way.

Basically I toned down my anger to try and not rock the boat for the first year. Can't hide my 'fuck you' energy without exacerbating this ulcer.

That's basically correct, actually. I won't keep giving the particulars, but I have comical levels of anger brewing and nowhere to put them put misplaced and irrational action.

Finally feel like im approaching the end of a rut musically. Helps that my band is looking for a new bassist and drummer. I'll get to play guitar again, finally!
