Don't know what I could possibly say here to make you feel better, other than
My mother has similar issues to yours and it truly is sad.

Also don't use. It'll only make you feel worse.

100% this. Every time I've slipped and fallen off the wagon, I've immediately felt worse than before. You may feel some relief due to the substance, but it'll be far outweighed by guilt and regret. It's just not worth it. Besides, you're right—your family needs you more than you need an escape. And that's a good thing :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, man. Sending good vibes and keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you guys so much. I'm trying to stay positive. It looks like we are heading down to MD Anderson in Houston on Wednesday morning. I'm beyond stressed out, but trying to keep my mind elsewhere for now. I need to be strong for my parents. I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'll be bringing my labtop to talk with you guys still while I'm out of town.

love you all and appreciate everything

I'm sorry to hear about all that, Jwar. Get some rest when you can and keep strong. You'll get through this and you're doing a great job.

Many e-hugs and positive vibes sent your way, Jwar.

I'm running out of patience at work (small mom&pop music store). I've been here since 2006 and really don't want to leave, but it's become a serious drain on my mental health. The owner seems determined to alienate as many customers as she can, constantly complains about how much she hates handling the day-to-day stuff, but she's too paranoid and stubborn to start letting me handle it for her. I walked in one day last week just in time to hear her tell a customer how much of an inconvenience he was being (long story short, dude put some money down on a bass and was coming in to make another payment...which she couldn't figure out on the cash register and blamed him for it). She won't hold a staff/teacher meeting because "it will just turn into a bitching session", won't listen to any of my suggestions to improve customer satisfaction, tells the few customers she actually interacts with how poorly the store is doing and says she we're only still open by the grace of god.

I don't know. I haven't taken any significant time off in a few years and I'm burning out. I need to take a few days off, fuck off to somewhere relaxing, and re-evaluate. I just don't know what the fuck else I'd do for work. I have quite a few gigs lined up for the next couple of months, so that's nice. But I am in a real shitty place mentally.

 to jwar.

Slim, definitely sounds like she's self-sabotaging, but who knows.
If you're at the end of your rope, I'd confront her and if she fires you or just freaks out, maybe it's time to walk away and move on. :idk:

Good luck jwar. I lost my mom a couple years ago to cancer and it was the most soul crushing experience, but I stayed sober and am grateful I did, because I don't have any regrets now to haunt me for the rest of my life. Her final months will haunt me enough as it is.

Well I came in here to facetiously gripe about TFW you are waiting for someone to get back to you on a CL post for something you want desperately, and you don't know if they got your email because so much shit ends up in the spam folder. But now that feels petty, even if I was just kidding.
