I know you don't want to hear it, but Timebender. Does the pitch shifting, the reverse, the looping... I think it's the closest bet.

But at this point, a new ct5 isn't much more expensive than a new rainbow machine or bicycle delay which do mode 1, or any looper that does mode 2 (used SMMH or timefactor?) and definitely cheaper than getting three loopers if you're using mode 3.

If you know what you want just save up and go for it.

Oh Red Panda Raster does the mode 1 thing as well right? There's one in BST right now.

yeah, mode one would be possible to replicate with other things but im not sure where you would get the other modes (which are much cooler than mode 1 imo)

If you have Ableton and a MIDI controller you can recreate/approximate/expand mode 3 in about 5 minutes. Probably mode 2 as well but I never really gave it much thought. You could probably use any Variable looper plugin in any DAW really, like Mobius or Tone Carver Regen (Which I use live) but it is all built into Ableton.

In regards to pedals, the Eventide Timefactor's looper allows you to change the speed/pitch of the loop (inc in quantised intervals), change the loop's direction and change the start/end points, which if you were to modulate with an LFO (as everything can be assigned to the expression input), you could kinda reproduce Mode 2's randomness in a not entirely random way.

That said, I sold my TF and still have my good old first edition Ct5 on the board, and apply the Ableton method to literally any instrument/sample I can get my hands on. Ct5 was my introduction to that kinda stuff and I love it dearly.

If it weren't so pricey I'd try one to make sure. I guess it'd be easy enough to fip it though. But yeah, even though it seems capable to do more subtle pitch shifting and dreamy purty stuff, the ct5 still seems to be mostly about super glitchy/trippy stuff, which isn't my core business these days

Actually...If there was an easy fix for the volume level of the Timebender's repeats, I'd be on it like flies on shit. Cheap, a couple really useable delay modes with awesome options and controls, AND an extremely powerfull pitch shifter...

My board is basic as fuck, but whenever I have any thing else on my board, I never use it. This is an iteration of my original set up of nyc muff -> holy grail -> memory toy. I still use the memory toy but the knobs are getting pretty sketchy. I would also totally use an nyc but I love me some mids. The playboy pedal is just a SHO for solos.
