Some initial thoughts for those considering one:

Pros
- Can get 50W tube loud without the speakers crapping out
- Great low end response
- Quiet
- Powerful EQ section and good response to playing dynamics and volume/tone knobs
- Easily adjustable breakup (gain+volume+EQ+mode all work together to change its characteristics)
- 50+ BOSS effects (of which you can customize and save 3 dirt pedals, 6 mod/other effects, 3 delays and 3 reverbs on the unit) and they sound really good
- Selectable wattage is super smart and useful, especially for someone like me (living in an apartment complex where it's not always popular having to crank the volume to achieve the desired sound)
- Changing the wattage changes the amount of headroom

Cons
- Certain settings on each effect carry over to the other effects (you can't have reverse delay be wet only without the other delays becoming wet only as well. Reverb size carries over as well)
- You should be able to select which FX parameter(s) you control with the knob on the amp itself
- Getting to the point of actually getting to use the software was overly complicated. Several downloads, installations, computer restarts and commands on the amp itself
- The tilt feature is stupid. It doesn't tilt enough.

Overall, super pleased with it! The bang for you buck ratio is off the charts! :animal:
REALLY impressive bang:buck ratio indeed
Those cons aren't even real cons impo, at least not to someone who's into pedlols and doesn't have to rely on the amp's build in effects :idk:
But that's still what's making me look at even cheaper options that DON'T have the redundant software and effects and are even smaller (strictly home use here). But there's just nothing half decent out there that's cheaper than the Katana 50  :idk:

Well, there's something to explore still. How does it takes pedals?

That's next on the agenda. I normally don't keep my pedals at home (which is why the Katana was especially interesting for me) unless I'm demoing them or I feel like I have time to mess around with them instead of studying. I'll grab some on Monday's rehersal. :thumb:

Hecka interested. Might have to add this to the ever changing pile of amps I'm investigating.

Loud enough for a band? Other guitar player uses an ac30 for reference

Depends more on your drummer, I think. I generally think you need 100W with a drummer. The 100W version also has a presence knob that boosts and sharpens your highs and upper mids.

I'm still going for the Jc-22/jc-40. Stereo ins and no extra frills calls to me.

I love my JC-160, no doubt. This was just incredibly cheap and more handy considering I don't keep pedals at home.

That's why I don't work at home, where I keep my pedals. Which gets us back to, are you a crazy person?

I'll have to trip down to guitar center or something. Check out the 100 watt version. Half of me wants a deville, half wants to stay solid state so I never have to spend pedal money on tubes.

Jerms MK ULTRA. Sweetest fuzz sound ever. Goes from full on MK I tonebender to ratty FZ-1 garage madness.
