Bumping this thread solely to bitch that my cover band wants to do another Primus song (we already do Wynona) and settled on fucking Jerry Was a Racecar Driver. Learning how to tap is going to be the fucking end of me. How the hell do you do that shit Behnders?
...... you know, i don't really know how hard Primus shtuff IS to play. growing up in the same yarea, even though i lurrrrrved them, purposefully never learned any of their's.

I spent almost 3 hours on it last night. I can KINDA get it to sound right, except that I can't play the highest notes; Claypool is either using a 6 string or has like 26 frets. I might transpose it all down an octave and then use my whammy set to +1 octave. And because my tapping sucks, I have to crank my compressor all the way up to be able to hear my left hand notes. Shit is a PITA bruh.
I remember trying to do tapping/slapping on my bass. I was crazy bad at it and everybody expected me to be really good at it. That's probably the biggest reason I stopped playing bass.
lol. yeah. think he was mainly using his 6 string rainbow bass then?
murrrrrr i dunno. i'm not really that good at tapping. i just started because a riff felt like it worked like that, and i could do it a tad. and i'm horrrrible at slapping. just like...... enjoy the tonal difference and the ease of reaching octaves?

I think it is more of a if you can play piano at all then.. I can't, I can't tap, I can't play drums, I can't play keyboards, but I can say that switching from playing something guitar like to something played with a bow came without thought
