Just bought an el Cap and the weirdest thing happened. So a year ago, I was trying to buy a couple pedals on Gumtree (UK Craigslist) and this guy, in what I acknowledge was a pretty smart scam, basically got me to pay for an entirely different pedal to be sent to him from a third guy. I got my money back because Paypal protection and well, the third guy sent it himself.

Anyway, I go to buy this el cap and payment goes through, and the guy accuses me of scamming him out of a pedal a year ago. Turns out to be the guy who sent the pedal last year and ultimately lost out. After clearing the air that it was me who the scammer duped too, I sent him a little extra on top after hearing he didn't get anywhere with the police. Hopefully it all works out! I've got buyer protection still if it's still sketch though. Small, shitty world, eh?

Weird!
Gumtree is absolutely packed full of scammers, I basically don't trust anyone on there if I can't go and collect the item myself/they come here to pick it up.

4 eventually :animal: they turned out to be even better than i imagined. fourses has four oscillators with two bounds inserts per oscillator, so for instance with a single pp module I can patch a pressure out to each oscillator and use the tuned voltage outs to set the bounds between the oscillators. since there are eight bounds inserts, that has fueled consideration for adding an Analog Memory to a pp or two. i do wish brains was deeper and able to control more than two pp though, but its great a dummy cable into t-clk can free the pressure outs independent from the sequencer

^^That sounds rad.

Have a SS/BS Superpuzzle incoming. First ss/bs pedal. Totally jazzed.

:!!!: I received this pristine looking DingoTone BSD on Friday:

Thanks a lot, Chankgeez, for sending it over to Germany!
I did only have a short moment for testing it, but so far I'm impressed. Nice overall sound. And with my Stratocaster it can produce very, very nice low gain overdrive. I don't think that my other pedals can do it in a similar way. Very sweet sounding.

Now my DingoTone pedal collection is complete:

Only the HZD booster is missing from the official series. I don't need it. The other pedals are awesome, especially the FDD and the VFZ! :animal:

i'm just in love. pp and ifm are such a perfect match. all four of the fourses oscillators effect one another, so using that same patch it starts to get real interesting doing stuff like sending one of the fourses oscillators to say, modulate a denum vco, and its other two oscillators through a comparator and using the resulting pulse train to clock Brains. now all of the pressure gestures are modulating the clock too, pretty neat. then send the pp's tuneable voltage outs through their own dusg, and modulate with the remaining fourses oscillator and/or the pp :!!!:

also congrats, I think the Superpuzzle was my first ss/bs too :joy: such a great sounding superfuzz

I think I'll pledge for one or the two pedals from Coda Effects that now are on the European crowdfunding platform Ulule. 2 pedals: Dolmen (Big Muff) and Montage (analog trem with tap tempo!).
I can't decide if I get this Montagne or not. It seems so cool but I don't play tremolos that much...

No, there's no amp in there - tone fairies and feedback goblins live inside this box.

Are modules like Fourses actually usable for anything else than pure improv ?
I like improvisation a lot but I like modules that can do things that I expect them to do, and Blasser stuff seems a bit too unpredictable for me...

yes. probably fair to say the spirit of IFM is one of experimentation/improv, but the IFM modules are as predictable as you'd want except for maybe sprott which is a chaos circuit. the other modules all have their own implementation of peter's bounds/bounce concept leading to unique but fully controllable and predictable results. with fourses you really have an incredible amount of control. for instance you are able to set the upper and lower voltage bounds that each oscillator bounces within, this lets you do some neat things like set the lower limit higher than the upper limit. this results in what peter calls a paradox wave. at audio rate this sounds pretty incredible and maybe in some ways you could call it noise. only here you have certain control over it unlike say white noise that is random. it can behave and sound kinda chaotic, but i don't believe this paradox wave IS mathematically chaos. you can ultimately influence chaos but its an unpredictable behavior. with fourses this "chaos" is within a recognizable repeating pattern that you have control over. factor in there are four oscillators influenced and bouncing off one another with each oscillator able to operate at cv, audio, or lfo rates and things get real interesting in ways beyond the paradox wave. when you get to patching these oscillator outs to control one another and start changing the rate they are operating at...well, at that point you're playing an instrument and the whole IFM experimentation/improv ethos is evident. obviously these four oscillators are awesome as modulation sources for modules outside of the IFM family too. just great really, its the only reason I got into euro

also all the ifm inputs are like 10 megaohms, designed to take contact mics etc directly to process audio. that's fun.

What is the exact usage of the Meng Qi Hand? Is it like a way for you to draw your own waveforms through tapping it or what? Do you actually tap the panel itself or just press that Rec button? I've never really gotten that module.

yeah you got it. you make your own waveform, or gesture, by "playing" the top plate, and you can record and then slew it. Then depending on the mode its in, you either need to trigger it like an envelope, or its cycling like an lfo. just like the ciat-lonbarde barres there is a piezo attached to the bottom of the top plate, you tap or rub with varying degrees of pressure to make your gesture and that's output as a control voltage. You can just use the Hand like this to send your gestures out in real time. You have to hold down the record button when you want it to record your gesture, and its recording as long as the button is depressed up to...2.2 seconds maybe. Then depending on the mode it starts cycling or needs to be triggered. If you play a new gesture it temporarily overrides what's recorded, but it won't record a new gesture unless you're holding down the record button. It keeps on keeping on with what's recorded unless you hold down the record button for like four seconds or so and that clears the memory and changes the mode too.

Its a one hand kinda operation, use your index finger to hold down the record button and your middle finger to make your gesture for instance. i have best results tapping in a rhythmic type gesture and then using the slew to smooth it out. there is a RST trigger in, CV out, and EOL trigger out. i guess EOL stands for End Of Loop. there is some good info on the ciat-lonbarde site about the signal created with a piezo/barre and how to diy your own.
